Van Buren Pointers 2023 Team Preview

The Van Buren Pointers have a lot of talent on both sides of the ball. The Pointers will be led by a very talented senior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='155329' first='Bryce' last='Perkins'] 6'0, 175. Backup quarterback and starting wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='399226' first='Elijah' last='Johnson'] a junior at 6'2", 175-pounds. Running the ball will be [player_tooltip player_id='323925' first='Cameron' last='Keller'] 6'0", 160-pound junior with speed and power and Caleb Sellers 5'8:, 185-pound senior.   The receiving core will be strong with [player_tooltip player_id='399226' first='Elijah' last='Johnson'] and talented receiver speedster [player_tooltip player_id='637665' first='Trenton' last='Cooley'] 5'9", 145-pound junior, [player_tooltip player_id='259657' first='Jadyn' last='Johnson'] 5'10, 160-pound hunior with speed and great route running, Weston Wilcox 6'1", 175-pound sophomore, Philip Steele 6'0", 165-pound sophomore have the ability to also contribute.   The offensive line will be led by [player_tooltip player_id='525562' first='Ethan' last='Hurst'] 6'2", 265-pound junior, Chasen Thibodaux 5'10," 225-pound senior. The defensive line will be led by talented [player_tooltip player_id='399227' first='Alex' last='Welborn'] 6'2", 300-pound junior, [player_tooltip player_id='892223' first='Jacob' last='Gavelis'] 6'1", 225-pound defensive lineman/ tight tnd, Jacob Wagner 6'0", 240-pound senior.   The Linebacker core will be led by Uriah Henson 6'0", 170-pound senior, Kelton Sims 5'8", 175-pound senior. The defensive backfield will be led by Peyton Pschier 5'11", 175-pound senior who led the Pointers last season with 84 tackles. Also returning is Landon Evans 5'10", 150-pound junior who recorded 59 tackles last season and Gabe Hale 5'10", 150-pound junior.   The Kicking game will be led by sophomores Derek Kelly 6'4",165-pounds and Manning Dotson 5'8", 175-pounds.
