Prep Redzone has all the details below…
Chase Taylor Chase Taylor 6'0" | 175 lbs | DB Stockbridge | 2025 State GA – Stockbridge
A big, physical linebacker at 6-foot-3 200-pounds, Taylor is a playmaking defender south of Atlanta who had an excellent camp showing this summer across the South. One of the top sophomore defenders in the area last season, Taylor reads the quarterback, and while he’s an excellent run defender, he has the ability to make plays in coverage as well. He gets down-hill, knows how to strike, and brings a level of toughness to the Stockbridge defense. It’s hard to call him “under the radar” as he does hold offers from Florida State, Georgia Tech, Duke, among others, but he’s someone who should see his stock continue to rise this upcoming season as a junior. Last year, Taylor made 66 tackles, three sacks, and one fumble recovery.
Ja’darrian Carswell Ja’darrian Carswell 5'11" | 180 lbs | LB Johnson County | 2025 State GA – Johnson County
The new No. 64 player in the latest Prep Redzone rankings, Carswell is an easy D1-caliber linebacker still flying under the radar somehow. The Johnson County standout is a sure tackler who knows how to consistently find the football and the ball-carrier. He fills running lanes with ease between the tackles and knows how to leave a big, clean. He’ reacts quickly’s instinctive, physically put together, and easily one of the top overall defenders in the area. He plays bigger than his size at 6-foot-0 180-pounds and can be lightning quick off snap. He can set the edge in the run game, forcing opposing running backs inside, and shows the ability to rush the quarterback as well. He had a very productive sophomore season last year, making 79 tackles and 10 tackles for loss. He’s a well-rounded linebacker who knows how to tackle, and he’s only going to get better and better over the next two seasons. Expect him to have a gigantic junior season in 2023. He’s ranked as the No. 7 linebacker in Georgia for the 2025 class.
A physical defender and one of the hardest-hitting sophomore linebackers in Middle Georgia, Davis showed natural instincts last fall as a sophomore and has the ability to be even better as a junior next season. A physically gifted prospect at 6-foot-0 200-pounds, Davis is a force in the middle of the Mary Persons defender and made his presence known all season long. He can dissect running plays early on and has no problem getting physical down in the trenches. When he hits you, he strikes, and he’s going to leave a bruise. And if you don’t hold the ball with two hands, there’s a good chance Davis is going to knock the ball out. He shows good pursuit, competitiveness, gives great effort, and knows how to tackle. As a sophomore last season, Davis made 75 tackles, proving to be one of the more productive sophomore linebackers in the area. He could have a true breakout junior season this fall with the ability to reel in come smaller offers down the road.
Gabriel Bauman Gabriel Bauman 6'0" | 200 lbs | LB Richmond Hill | 2025 State GA – Richmond Hill
An instinctive linebacker who consistently does his job, Bauman is a small-town linebacker right outside of Savannah with a true nose for the football. He reads the offense well, plays smart, and always finds his way to the ball-carrier. When he gets there, he does a good job of hitting the ball-carrier soundly behind his pads. He’s tough to block and plays the game right way. He loves to compete and plays every play like it’s his last. A tackling machine last year as a sophomore, the 6-foot-0 195-pound defender made an impressive 93 stops, five TFLs, two sacks, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. He sure did’nt play like a sophomore last year and should be even better as a junior this fall. He may not be the biggest or fastest linebacker in the 2025 class, but he’s productive and simply does his job every time he’s on the field. Don’t be surprised if he lights up the stat sheet again in 2023.
