Recruiting News and Notes 8-20-23

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We are only days away from the high school football season kicking off in the Natural State. The recruiting news will not slow down even during the regular season. We are going to get caught up on a busy week of recruiting headlines. Over the past few days, we have seen commitments and campus invites take center stage.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='205755' first='Cooper' last='Jones']-Linebacker-Little Rock Christian-2024</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Little Rock Christian linebacker does a great job of getting off of blocks and hauling down the ball carrier. Jones does a great job of using his speed to get to the ball carrier. He drops back into coverage and is an asset in pass coverage. Earlier in the week, Jones placed his commitment with Ouachita Baptist. Ouachita Baptist is getting a talented linebacker that rarely has to come off of the field. He is a prospect to watch out for this season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='819089' first='Wyatt' last='Simmons']-Linebacker-Harding Academy-2024</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The linebacker class is a talented one this season. [player_tooltip player_id='819089' first='Wyatt' last='Simmons'] has blown up from a recruiting perspective over the past few months. Simmons does an excellent job of swarming to the ball carrier. He can drop back into coverage and defend the pass well. Simmons is a playmaker on the defensive side of the ball. He is a recruiting target for numerous college football powerhouses. Over the weekend, Simmons placed his commitment with the University of Arkansas.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Jordan Whiteside-Running Back-Cross County-2024</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Jordan Whiteside is a running back that will not go down on initial contact. He does an impressive job of making people miss and getting into the open field. The Cross County running back does a good job of catching the ball out of the backfield and is a weapon that can be used in the passing game. Whiteside has been invited to visit Lyon College on September 2^nd. He is a prospect to watch out for this season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='236139' first='Omarion' last='Robinson']-Defensive Back-Little Rock Parkview-2025</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One of the most talented defensive backs in the state of Arkansas. Robinson makes plays all over the field. He is a safety that does a great job of playing the ball while it is in the air. The talented Parkview safety cut his college choices down to 10 earlier in the week. The schools that made the list are USC, Florida State, Auburn, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, Baylor, Oregon, Texas, and Tennessee.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>JT Miller-Kicker-Rogers-2024</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Over the past few years, JT Miller has been a tremendous weapon for the Rogers Mounties. Miller is an accurate kicker and has a strong leg. He has hit some big kicks over the past few years and does not let the pressure get to him. Miller has been invited to Austin Peay State University to take a visit. Look for another strong season from the talented Rogers kicker.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
