Senior [player_tooltip player_id='169936' first='Ben' last='Holcomb'] is a player primed to have a big year on both sides of the ball. He projects best to play linebacker at the next level but could see a bump in his offensive use this season too. He ended his junior season with 52 tackles, three tackles for loss, and two sacks along with 127 receiving yards. Ben is an exceptional overall athlete with a recorded 4.7 40-yard time, 11.6 100m, and a 34" vertical, all of which flash in his game. He breaks on the ball very well and has range that can cover from sideline to sideline. Ben's pass coverage stood out on his tape, as he can fill a linebacker/safety hybrid role, and line on receivers and tight ends. He is fluid with his change of direction in coverage and uses his length very well to get his hands up to break up passes. Holcomb has a quick trigger when he reads run and can get downhill quickly. He has solid tackling technique once he gets to his target. Ben received his first offer last month from Hastings College with hopefully more heading his way.

Part of one of the top returning Class B backfields, [player_tooltip player_id='516326' first='Evan' last='Kastens'] is ready to punish defenses in 2023. Kastens is returning as the team's leading rusher from last year with 994 yards and 11 touchdowns. Evan is a unique back to watch because he has a great blend of elusiveness and physicality. He can take a handoff up the middle and pound away at defense while still possessing the ability to plant his foot in the ground and make defenders miss. Even if you can get a hand on him, Kastens has shown top-tier balance and the ability to bounce off of contact. Evan's vision is impressive to watch as he seems to flow to open lanes with ease. Great burst when he hits his lanes and overlooked speed that helps him distance himself once he hits the open field. Breakout season coming up!

Defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='340514' first='Samson' last='Broumley'] is a sleeper player to watch on what should be a solid York squad. Samson has a taller, leaner frame with great length that helps him create separation at the LOS. He doesn't have a ton of tape posted on his Hudl, but in the clips I saw, I noticed a great motor. He doesn't lose sight of the ball and is tireless in his pursuit. Samson uses his hands well and really flashed his ability to make plays in the backfield. Broumley projects best at defensive end but also looked disruptive in a few plays where he slid over to defensive tackle. Hoping to see more big plays from Samson in 2023.

[player_tooltip player_id='704085' first='Crew' last='Meints'] is a versatile two-way player set for a big season for the Orangemen. The majority of Crew's varsity time came on defense where he did a great job in the free safety role. He's very instinctive and does a great job reading the QB and tracking his eyes. Crew is quick to break on the ball once he makes his read and has the speed to close quickly. He's a willing tackler who can step up into the box to help defend the run. Crew ended the season with 37 tackles and a pick-six. On offense, Crew showed the potential to be a dual-threat QB with an impressive 88-yard run. Crew and the Orangemen are ready to bounce back and make waves in Class B!
