SubscribeIf you are football fanatic like myself the week leading up to the first game always feels like Christmas eve, regardless if its High School, College or the NFL. We are less than 5 days aways from week 1 and here in Prince William County and their surrounding locations, the buzz for High School football is growing exponentially. Here are a few players I will be keeping an eye out come this Friday:
We have to start off with one of the most overlooked uncommitted prospects in Virginia for class of 2024 and that is South County’s Jordan Dennis Jordan Dennis 5’9″ | 165 lbs | QB South County | 2024 State VA . We spoke with him in the winter and the southpaw quarterback is a competitor that wants to see him and his Stallion teammates back in the state final. The young man has the talent and grades to play at the FCS level and with a few of his teammates (Joe Polineli, Gavin Frederick) getting recognition, it is time for his as well.

The State Champs workhorse running back may achieve all of his school records before the end of his junior year. Running in a long family tradition,

Jr. is the next big thing at running back. He has already received offers from North Carolina, Maryland and East Carolina just to name a few, it is only a matter of time where nearly 20 plus FBS schools will come calling. Should be interesting to see how the Freedom Eagles handle their early season schedule, with big matchups against Varina and Dematha right out of the gate. I would expect them to hand off to the all purpose back Overton but will have to see.

surely has him and his fellow Huskies ready to go as they kick off their season. A number of prognosticators have Westphal and his squad picked to finish the middle of the pack in their conference. They welcome Heritage this Friday followed by a showdown with Independence in week 2, the Huskies will need to come out firing in order to stay in the playoff race. I would expect Westphal to have his teammates more than fired up for their matchup this Friday, now that he has his commitment out of the way, he can focus on leading the Huskies to the playoffs.

The man in the middle of Virginia Academy’s defense takes center stage this Friday afternoon. Badi who is one of the top linebackers in the state, announced his intention to transfer from Centreville this past March to the Patriots and he also reclassified to 2025. The transition for not only Badi but many other kids to a new program like this one may be tough, but if you saw the work Coach Woods and his staff have been putting in this off-season you know they are in good hands! This young man is a natural born leader, I saw it up close when he was firing up his teammates at the 7 on 7 events at Flint Hill in June. I cannot wait to see his progression and the strides he takes this fall, knowing him the hard work has been more than put in and he is eager to make his first big hit for the Patriots.

will be one of those talents for West to find, Clarke committed to the Hokies in the winter, and has looked locked in all summer. West threw for 29 touchdowns last year and he is no stiff in the pocket either, I expect him to have a monster junior campaign. The two sport star will have plenty of weapons and will be facing top notch competition each week.
