The 2023 football season for a few schools in the MAIS 6-A is starting this week, which is hard to believe. On Thursday night, MRA is heading to Parklane Academy to kick off the high school football season. On Friday night, Lamar School will face Starkville Academy in Starkville. Adams Christian will open their season with Bowling Green (LA), while Bayou is traveling to Jackson and Hartfield is traveling to Heritage Academy. Other schools in the MAIS will be doing their final week of pre-season prep this week. Here are the three biggest games in the MAIS this week.

On Thursday night, the Patriots will travel to Parklane to kick off the 2023 MAIS Football season. MRA's senior quarterback, [player_tooltip player_id='344088' first='John' last='White'], who has committed to the University of Southern Mississippi, will lead the team. White will be focused on lighting up the scoreboard and getting the Patriots' offense off to a strong start. However, Zed Washington and the Pioneer defense have the potential to give White and the Patriots a hard time all night long. Despite the hot and humid conditions, I anticipate that MRA will return to their winning ways. My prediction is that MRA will win 41-17.

Hartfield Academy @ Heritage Academy

On Friday night, Heritage Academy's defense faces a difficult task. They must attempt to slow down [player_tooltip player_id='617240' first='Reed' last='Jesiolowski'], and the Hartfield offense. It remains to be seen how Hartfield will respond to the punishment recently imposed on them by MAIS. Heritage had a successful 2022 season, falling just one game short of winning the MAIS 5-A State Championship. I anticipate that the Hawks will come prepared with a strong determination to win. In a closely contested match, my prediction is that Hartfield will emerge victorious with a score of 31-27.

Bayou Academy @ JA

The upcoming football game between Jackson Academy and Bayou Academy is set to take place on Friday night at The Brickyard. Although the Colts showed some promise in the 2022 season, they were knocked out of the playoffs by Oak Forest in the first round. However, I believe that Jackson Academy has a chance to surprise everyone this year in Division 6-A of the MAIS. This is due to their aggressive defensive front, which is led by the disruptive [player_tooltip player_id='212364' first='Dereon' last='Albert']. He causes numerous problems for the opposing offensive line. Ultimately, I predict that Jackson Academy will dominate the game and win with a score of 24-12.
