Here is a look at four Falcon Prospects who are entering their senior seasons and have open recruitment. Three of them starred on the defensive unit during the scrimmage.
Tavion Johnson, ATH, 5’10”, 160
Johnson took the first-team snaps at quarterback for the Falcons. Last season Johnson played wideout and defensive back. He made 8 receptions for 186 yards during the 2022 season. He caught three balls for touchdowns. He looked good running the offense and will be a dual-threat quarterback who could end up with more rushing attempts than pass attempts. He is quick and a smart football player.
Cale Milleson Cale Milleson 5'11" | 190 lbs | LB Wichita Heights | 2024 State KS , LB/DB, 5’11”, 190
Heights is running a straight-up 22-player personnel package with no one playing both ways. I had seen Milleson compete this summer at camps, but it was a real treat getting to see him live in full-speed action. This season Milleson will be used only on defense. He lines up at the linebacker position, but with his speed, he could play free or strong safety. He is the son of a coach, so he has the game in his blood. He did drop a potential pick-six and was none too pleased with himself.
Nate Campbell Nate Campbell 5'11" | 190 lbs | LB Heights (Wichita) | 2024 State KS , LB/DB, 5’11”, 190
Campbell was the leading tackler for the Eagles in 2022. He racked up 100 total tackles. He had 16 tackles for lost yardage. Campbell is almost a mirror image of Milleson when it some to size. He might be a tick slower than Milleson and a little more physical, but the two of them created havoc on the defensive side of the ball, especially in their reps against Emporia. The Falcons’ defense was the most physical and impressive group of three defenses that participated in the scrimmage.
Avante Scales, WR/DB, 5’10”, 170
Scales made 41 total tackles on the defensive side of the ball. He is the kick returner for Wichita Heights and could contribute right away to a college team on special team units. He has played some wideout but again this season will be focusing solely on the defensive side of the line of scrimmage. He has solid closing speed and a solid vertical. Scales can really defend the pass and come and hit someone if needed.
