The wait is finally over and we are excited to get on the sidelines and see what these amazing players can do. We have a few games this weekend that will have an impact on the season as a whole. All of these will have different effects on each class. Like always these games span across the state of Nebraska.
Papillion-La Vista South @ North Platte
Last season this was a solid game between the Titans and the Bulldogs. It was super close by halftime with a 14-15 point lead by the Titans. The Titans took a two-touchdown lead by the fourth quarter. Papillion South would take the Win 35-14. North Platte dominated the ground game scoring all of their touchdowns on the ground along with about 243 rushes. The Titans also did well on the ground with about 236 yards on the ground for 4 touchdowns. This year’s matchup will be different in North Platte. The Bulldogs will be looking for revenge from last season and with this being a home opener it will be a fun one to watch. North Platte’s run game has always been fun to watch especially with their Flexbone-style offense. The Bulldogs are going up against a very competitive team that can do it all on both sides of the ball.

Creighton Prep @ Bellevue West
This game has been an amazing rivalry over the years. Their last two meetings were decided by only one score. Both were victories by Bellevue West adding even more tension to the rivalry between these two schools. In 2021 Bellevue West won 28-22 and in 2022 they won 28-21. Both of these games’ box scores are amazing. In the 2022 game, the Thunderbirds took a 21-7 victory by halftime the jays would then score 14 straight before the Thunderbirds scored again. In 2021 the Thunderbirds scored 21 points in the first quarter going up 21-6 by half. The Jays would almost make a comeback scoring 16 points in the fourth quarter alone to try and make the comeback. This game is always massive whenever they play. This game is Nebraska Highschool football and I can’t wait to attend it.

Elkhorn North @ Beatrice
A battle between the small town and the suburb. The Wolves of Elkhorn North are heading down to Beatrice to take on the Orangemen. It’s been a few years since the last time these two teams played. They last played in 2021 where these two teams played a super close thriller that ended in an Orangemen victory by one point in overtime. Last season the Wolves had a solid year going 7-4 with solid wins throughout the year with a balanced rushing and passing attack. The Wolves passed for almost 1,800 passing yards and they rushed for 2075 rushing yards combining for a total of 48 total touchdowns. On defense, Elkhorn North had 54 TFLs, 9 sacks, 13 interceptions, and 15 fumble recoveries. The Orangemen struggled last season going 3-7. The Orangemen prioritized the rushing game with 1,674 total yards for 18 touchdowns. On defense, Beatrice had 12TFLs, 3 sacks, 2 interceptions, and 5 fumble recoveries. A new season means new opportunities and the Orangemen will be looking to do a lot better and with a revitalized with a great Offensive line. Using their strengths they will be able to do better than they did last season.
