Coach Casey Dick and the Purple Dogs are looking to improve on the 7-4 record from last season. Fayetteville has the weapons on both sides of the ball to be a team that contends for a state title.

We start our look at the Purple Dogs with a focus on the offensive side of the ball. Fayetteville signal caller [player_tooltip player_id='149580' first='Drake' last='Lindsey'] had a tremendous season in 2022. Lindsey is an extremely accurate quarterback. He threw for 3,751 yards, 37 touchdowns, and only 3 interceptions last season. The future Minnesota Golden Gopher has set the stage for a big 2023 season.

Shifting our focus to the Fayetteville rushing attack. [player_tooltip player_id='260900' first='Christian' last='Setzer'] is a running back that has tremendous speed. Setzer hits the rushing lane quickly and gets to the second level in a blink of an eye. [player_tooltip player_id='183595' first='Omar' last='Murray'] will see carries as well. Murray is a running back that does a great job of allowing the rushing lane to develop and picking the proper lane. The Fayetteville rushing attack has the potential to surprise people this season.

Fayetteville never disappoints when it comes to having talented wide receivers for the passing attack. The Purple Dog receiving corps is impressive to say the least. Lach McKinney is a wide receiver that accounted for 14 touchdown receptions a season ago. McKinney uses crisp route running to create separation from opposing defensive backs. Jaison Delamar is a wide out that will haul in receptions in bunches. [player_tooltip player_id='392720' first='Xiyiah' last='Spencer-Cole'] has had a strong offseason and is a player to watch out for this season. The Fayetteville offense has the ability to put up the points this season.

Meanwhile, the defensive side of the ball for the Purple Dogs does not take a back seat in terms of talent. Fayetteville has several talented prospects on the defensive line this season. Trey Lisle and [player_tooltip player_id='260419' first='Kaden' last='Spencer'] are players that can completely disrupt an opponent's rushing attack. Both Spencer and Lisle are pass rushers that the opposing offensive line must account for on the field.

The linebackers and secondary have experienced players returning for the 2023 season. [player_tooltip player_id='260882' first='Noah' last='Janski'] reads the play well and is always around the ball carrier. Janski racked up over 70 tackles last season and a big season is a possibility this season. At the safety position, [player_tooltip player_id='221288' first='Isaiah' last='Taylor'] had a strong season last season. Taylor amassed 75 tackles and is a prospect to watch out for this upcoming season.
