Charleston Tigers 2023 Team Preview

The task facing the Tigers is defending the state championship. Charleston has the talent to be a team to watch out for this upcoming season. If a team is capable of defending it will be the Tigers.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Looking first, at the offensive side of the ball for the Tigers. May and the Tigers have two quality options at the quarterback position. Both Eli Huck and Carter Little have the opportunity to see snaps this season. Huck is a signal caller that can hurt you with his arm and his legs. Meanwhile, Carter Little has a strong arm and he uses it well to keep opposing defensive secondaries honest.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The rushing attack for the Tigers is not at a shortage for weapons. [player_tooltip player_id='537604' first='Reese' last='Merechka'] is a versatile prospect at the running back spot. He can line up all over the field for the Tigers. Merechka totaled almost 1,000 all-purpose yards last season and has the potential to surpass that number easily this season. Charleston fans should expect Eli Huck to get some carries as well this season. The Tigers have experience returning at the wide receiver spots this season. Maddix Terry is a willing blocker and catches everything thrown in his area. He has the route running ability to create separation and is another Charleston wide out that can catch everything thrown his way.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Charleston defense has plenty of talented prospects that do a great job of swarming to the football. Little's versatility makes it tough for opposing blockers to find him. Little racked up over 100 tackles last season. Trevor Jones on the defensive line does a great job of clogging up the rushing lanes.
