It was a fun matchup with 2 schools facing off for the first time ever. The offenses were a lot of fun with a ton of talent, so here are a few of the standouts from the offensive side of the ball!
Brody really impressed me, as I was unsure what he would bring to the table. Taking over for a stud QB Mason McKenzie, I was curious how he would fill the role. It seems Brody learned a ton from him, as he was fearless throwing the ball, and was putting it on the money. He threw for 4 TDs, and had a ton of yards against a pretty stout Romeo defense. He was good in the pocket, but showed some flashes of being able to get out of the pocket, extend plays and continue to keep his eyes downfield. I was super impressed, and Caledonia has to be pumped to have him the next 2 seasons.

This was the player of the game in my opinion. He hauled in a ton of catches, including 4 touchdowns! It was super impressive to watch him run right by the secondary, and make guys miss all game long. He has tremendous upside as a DB, but he did the most damage offensively. He was super elusive and was hard to keep track of, and he had multiple times he was just more athletic than the DB and was just physically dominant. Without him, Caledonia only had 1 other TD, so his performance was huge for the Scots.
The CMU commit was as advertised once again. He was adding yards and first downs all game long, Brock showed why he was elite. He showed off a variety of moves to keep the play alive, and never stopped chopping his feet when he ran into contact. Caledonia has to be one of, if not the favorite in D2, and Brock will be a huge part of that. I expect his performances to only get better throughout the season.

I was really not that familiar with what Kaden, but he really impressed me. He threw for 3 TDs, and was able to take another one in on foot. He has a really good arm and showed some really good accuracy. He read the defense well and didn’t force anything that wasn’t there. He was constantly just taking what the defense gave him and delivering it accurately without staring down the receivers. I really think with him playing this well, and the Romeo defense being as solid as it is, I could see this team taking a big step forward this season.
DJ was a nice surprise to me, as he was another player I wasn’t too familiar with. He put me on notice quickly, as he was hauling in catches, and was running some sweeps side to side. One of my favorite plays from him was when he ran a deep route and caught it over the defenders head, the defender tried to take it from him as he went to the ground, and he held strong to come up with the touchdown. He showed a lot of examples of having really good hands and seemed to do well when he could really show off his speed. I expect him to be a leader of the offense for Romeo all season long.
