In the grand scope of the OAA conference, the White serves as a home for a few great D2 teams with a couple of D1 teams looking to take that next step. Today, I’ll be headlining four breakout candidates in the OAA White!
T | Lucas Tic Lucas Tic 6'3" | 255 lbs | OL Troy | 2025 State MI | Troy | Hudl
Lucas is heading into the 2023 season, having undergone an impressive offseason. The bulk of his work has been in the weight room, as Lucas posts his lifting feats often. In fact, he just broke the school record for hang clean (265). Now, it’s obvious that Lucas has the size and strength to truly stand out as a college recruit this season; the only question is how much his actual fundamentals and consistency will improve.
QB | Noah Oury Noah Oury 6'2" | 200 lbs | QB Troy | 2025 State MI | Troy | Hudl
It’s been a long time coming for Noah. Last season, I thought he did alright at Quarterback. This latest offseason, he seems to have worked hard on his craft and is ready to showcase his improved skills. I know that Noah is an above-average athlete for a QB, and he’s really trending up. In fact, he’s the most recruitable QB in the entire OAA White.
ILB | Cainan Hanbury Cainan Hanbury 6'1" | 195 lbs | LB Troy Athens | 2026 State MI | Athens | Hudl
Hanbury is a brand-new name that I just watched tape of! This is a raw 2026 prospect with a lot of promising traits. He isn’t the greatest athlete, fastest, etc, but he shows plays with great IQ, and he isn’t afraid to go attack the ball carrier. I could easily see a future where Cainan is one of the best LBs in the entire OAA- he just has to go earn it! There’s also some tape at fullback where he’s seen getting physical as a blocker and ballcarrier.
RB | Sean Emerson Sean Emerson 5'8" | 180 lbs | ATH Seaholm | 2024 State MI | Seaholm | Hudl
I’m beginning to be a broken record talking about Sean, but I seriously do think he’ll shine this year. He’s switching from his typical SB role to being more of a typical RB this season, and I think that’ll help with recruiting. All offseason, Sean has demonstrated that he’s one of the better athletes in the 2024 RB class. He’s able to do anything that all 2024 RBs with DIII offers can do with amazing consistency.
