Prep Redzone Louisiana's first 2027 watch list of the cohort's high school career is scheduled to come out this week.

As we prepare for the complete list heading into the student-athletes' fast-approaching freshman season, we'll look a little more closely at six particular standouts from five different areas of the state — loosely determined by area codes.

The next half dozen promising young players in the process hail from the capital area, in or surrounding Baton Rouge.

[player_tooltip player_id='642719' first='Elijah' last='Haven'] | 6-4, 190 ATH/QB | Dunham

One of the top few multisport prospects in the class, Haven capped his eighth-grade year already with varsity experience in both football and basketball — Tigers teams which made a state title game and state tournament, respectively — and a Texas Tech football offer during spring ball. The heir-apparent to the exceptional performance by now-graduated star quarterback Jackson House, Haven is a tall, versatile athlete with a smooth stride and strong arm who has also shown his ability as a pass-catcher, although he may only need that skillset moving forward in trick-play scenarios.

[player_tooltip player_id='739753' first='Landon' last='Johnson'] | 6-0, 165 ATH/QB | Madison Prep

Similar to Haven, former Dunham district rival Madison Prep has a versatile young star beginning ninth grade with potential as both a quarterback, as well as other positions on the field. [player_tooltip player_id='739753' first='Landon' last='Johnson'] is the younger brother of and potential successor to 2025 quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='291086' first='Tylan' last='Johnson'], but has impressive size, athleticism and ball skills that will earn him playing time at receiver, defensive back or both well before Tylan's graduation. Landon reported a Grambling State offer last summer before even beginning his eighth-grade school year.

[player_tooltip player_id='739720' first='Jayden' last='Miles'] | 6-1, 205 RB | Catholic (Baton Rouge)

The next promising running back coming through a Bears program with a long tradition of productive players and special prospects at the position has already garnered some praise from his new teammates similar to the way older players talked up Derrius Guice, Clyde Edwards-Helaire and [player_tooltip player_id='139472' first='Barry' last='Remo'] before they started ninth grade. Miles is already the biggest back in the Catholic stable, which includes Remo and a pair of ranked juniors, and is a physical runner with some sharp cuts to make defenders miss when he gets outside.

[player_tooltip player_id='485983' first='Emmanuel' last='Moses'] | 5-10, 170 DB/ATH | University Lab

The next of the talented Moses brothers begins high school this fall and joins older brother Keylan, one of the state's — and nation's — top 2025 prospects on the same U-High practice and game fields where eventual Alabama and NFL linebacker Dylan paved the way. "Man Man" brings a familiar explosive tackling and, like his older brothers, has also shown some explosive big-play ability with the ball in his hands that should enable him to have an impact on both sides of the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='723747' first='Cullen' last='Weller'] | 5-9, 155 ATH | Live Oak

The north Louisiana short list included an LSU baseball commit, and the Baton Rouge group includes a Tulane baseball commit. Weller, a right-handed pitcher and shortstop on the diamond, announced his pledge to the Green Wave in December, but he's also a talented and versatile young athlete on the football field expected to play a notable role for his Eagles' varsity squad right away as a safety and receiver.

[player_tooltip player_id='739754' first='Jeremy' last='Williams'] | ATH/WR | Madison Prep

A second versatile athlete from the Chargers' intriguing freshman group makes the list in the big, physical pass-catcher — whether as a wide receiver or tight end — and edge rusher. Williams is also a highly regarded basketball prospect in Louisiana's 2027 class. On the football field, he would already be one of the team's bigger targets on offense or an aggressive tackler with a knack for creating turnovers.
