Preseason practices and scrimmages have raised the stock of some prospects across the state as the season nears. Everyone is aware of the notable QB names in Georgia, but here are some new signal-callers you need to know this fall.

Matt Peavy - 2024 - Brookwood

Peavy sat behind Alabama signee Dylan Lonergan for the past three years and is now ready to take the helm for Brookwood as a senior. Peavy is a smooth, fundamentally sound lefty who has the tools to replicate similar success at the QB position from last year. He has a clean delivery and puts beautiful touch on the ball. He can hit receivers in stride, allow them to run, and put the ball in the basket. Either way, he is a WR-friendly QB who clearly has earned the trust of his peers and plays in sync with the offense. Peavy looks calm and collected in the pocket, gathering himself well in the midst of pressure and almost always throwing off a firm-base. We will still need to see how Peavy works as a decision-maker at the varsity level, but he has been soaking in the offense for years and shows the arm accuracy to keep the ball away from defenses and push the field vertically.

Devan Powell - 2024 - Bowdon

Powell is a dynamic QB prospect who can get it done with both his arm and his legs. When you factor in his athleticism and his thin 6'2 170 frame, Powell might project to the collegiate level as a defensive back. However, as of now, he does his damage at the QB spot. He is a very dangerous runner with the speed and suddenness to exploit running lanes downfield and lift away from the defense. He isn't a physical runner, but he wastes no time getting north and south. As a passer, he is capable of putting good touch on the ball and giving receivers room to run. He also is capable of throwing the ball on the run, squaring his shoulders to the target, and firing. However, I believe most eyes will be drawn to Powell due to his ability to make plays as a runner.

[player_tooltip player_id='1566569' first='Mason' last='Bryant'] - 2025 - Paulding County

Bryant has put together a solid offseason and is now in a position to make some noise this fall for Paulding County. He is a bigger-bodied QB at around 6'3 200. He has room to get even bigger and grow as an athlete as well. He shows decent mobility, often pulling the ball and scampering for yards. He isn't a freak runner by any means, but he definitely has the legs to keep the chains moving on short-yardage situations and when the play breaks down. Bryant is a touch-ball thrower with decent ball placement. He shows plenty of trust in his receivers and often lays it up for his receiver to go up and make a play over the DB. His arm strength isn't off the charts, but he does have the arm action to tighten up his delivery and fire the ball over the middle of the field. Bryant looks to be a gamer-type QB who could raise his stock with a productive fall.

Chris Miller - 2027 - Kennesaw Mountain

As a freshman, Miller has risen up the Kennesaw Mountain depth chart and is pushing for varsity action in his first year at the HS level. It's clear to see why he has impressed, even at a young age. He isn't built like a lot of other freshmen QBs at a stout 6'2 200. He will be tough to bring down in the pocket and won't be easy to tackle downfield either. Though he looks the part of a pocket passer. He has the ability to rip the ball with just the flick of his wrist. In the limited game tape I see, he is clearly capable of getting the ball across the field and is threatening in the vertical passing game. With some solid playmakers around him and noticeable arm talent, Miller is a freshman candidate to make a name for himself this fall.
