Continue ReadingWith the 2023 high school football season being officially underway, it is the time of the year where initial rankings for the current season are being finalized. After releasing our initial 2024 and 2025 rankings updates for this season, we have now turned our attention to a class debut in our rankings. The 2026 class is loaded with several talented players but some stood out above the rest to make our initial Top 100. With those rankings being officially posted, I will now be breaking them down by position. After covering the quarterback and running back positions, I will now turn my attention to our top wide receivers in the class of 2026 in the state of Kentucky.
Marlon Harbin Marlon Harbin 5’11” | 170 lbs | WR Saint Xavier | 2026 State KY has quickly established himself as one of the top players in the state in his class. As a freshman, Harbin finished the year as the Tigers’ leading receiver, catching 24 passes for 360 yards and three touchdowns. Harbin is a dangerous deep threat, using his speed to run by opposing defensive backs to create separation. After the catch, he is very dangerous in the open field, showing the ability to turn short passes into big plays at any given moment. Harbin is off to a strong start to his sophomore season as he has nine catches for 98 yards and a touchdown through the first two games. He has also shown some special teams value, returning one kickoff for a touchdown so far this season. Marlon currently holds offers from Kentucky, Louisville, North Alabama, and UT Martin, and I expect more to come his way as he is a Power 5 caliber prospect with three years left to continue to develop.
Another wide receiver that has proven to be one of the best overall players in the state in his class is Trevy Barber Trevy Barber 5’9″ | 155 lbs | WR Bowling Green | 2026 State KY . Barber played a huge role in the Bowling Green offense as as freshman, catching 47 passes for 737 yards and nine touchdowns. Trevy thrives out of the slot, using his quick release and smooth breaks in his routes to create separation from opposing defensive backs. After the catch, he is very electric with the ball in his hands in the open field. Barber has the elusiveness to make defenders miss and the speed to simply run away from the defense after the catch. He is also very dangerous as a returner on special teams, returning two kickoffs for touchdowns last season. Barber is off to a hot start through the first two games of this season as he has caught 15 passes for 180 yards and four touchdowns while also returning one kickoff for a touchdown so far. Trevy currently holds offers from Miami (OH) and Eastern Kentucky, and I expect more to come his way soon as he is a true Power 5 caliber wide receiver prospect.

Ronald Lunz Ronald Lunz 5’10” | 170 lbs | WR North Hardin | 2026 State KY is a player that jumped onto my radar this past off-season. As a freshman, Lunz caught 11 passes for 159 yards and a touchdown. Lunz is a dangerous deep threat on the outside where he is able to use his speed to run by opposing defensive backs to create separation. He has also showed the ability to make defenders miss and break tackles after the catch to pick up extra yards. I also like what I’ve seen from Lunz as a blocker as he plays with a nice amount of physicality and has shown the ability to drive defenders out of the picture to create an opening for the ball carrier. Lunz currently holds offers from Kentucky and Western Kentucky, and I expect more to come his way as he is a Power 5 caliber wide receiver prospect with time to continue to develop.

Eli Pietrowski Eli Pietrowski 6’4″ | 210 lbs | TE Corbin | 2026 State KY is another wide receiver that caught my attention as a freshman. He finished last season with 22 receptions for 317 yards and four touchdowns. Pietrowski is a big, athletic wide receiver that thrives out of the slot. He is a very smooth route runner, showing the ability to create separation with ease. Eli is also dangerous after the catch, showing the speed and elusiveness to turn short passes into big gains. Pietrowski is also a very reliable blocker, showing the ability to drive his man down the field to create a lane for the ball carrier. Eli currently holds an offer from Eastern Kentucky and I expect more to come his way as he is a Division I caliber receiver prospect.
To wrap up our top five wide receivers in the class of 2026 in the state of Kentucky, I have Luke Tompkins Luke Tompkins 6’0″ | 175 lbs | WR North Oldham | 2026 State KY from North Oldham. Tompkins is coming off a solid freshman season in which he caught 16 passes for 348 yards and four touchdowns. He is a very dangerous deep threat on the outside, using his quick release and speed to create separation from opposing defensive backs. Tompkins also does a great job of tracking the ball in over his shoulder to make catches without breaking stride and has very reliable hands. Luke doesn’t currently hold any offers but he is a player for college coaches to keep an eye on as he continues to develop over the next three seasons.
