Continue ReadingKennedy is one of the best edge rushers across the state in the 2024 class, and is an explosive defender coming off the outside for Brophy Prep. He currently checks in as our number seven defensive lineman in the updated 2024 rankings, and holds offers from Fordham, Idaho, Illinois, Nevada, Penn State and UTEP, but has committed to Iowa and shut down his recruitment. He is a still raw and developing player, but is long with good explosion off the ball and can quickly get into the backfield and make plays behind the line. He flashes strong hands, can blow up pullers and blockers in traffic and shows closing speed and good body control/tackling abilities behind the line in space.
Franklin is a true hand in the dirt long and smooth pass rusher that checks in as a top fifteen player at this position within our rankings and is currently committed to Air Force. He has a variety of speed rush moves at his disposal off the edge, good bend to beat tackles hands and can redirect quickly while collapsing the pocket. He shows good gap integrity agains the run and locks out blockers while able to peak and quickly shed and plays very physical in the box while welcoming contact/pullers. Franklin has the ideal size for the FBS level and will only continue to develop and grow technically and is a very balanced player for the defensive end position.
Byrne is a very nice new addition to our rankings in the defensive line unit and is a high academic kid that should be able to find a home in college at some level. He could play either a hand in the dirt strong side defensive end or even kick inside and provide some nice interior speed/twitch from a 3-4i tech position, depending on the scheme. He has impressed at a few camps this summer and shows he has a variety of rush moves in his toolbox and is able to win at the POA with both speed, power and speed to power. He plays with good leverage, counter abilities and locks out blockers to keep them away from his chest and is poised for a monster 2023 season for a loaded Brophy front seven.
