Head Football Coach Jason Warner has been Head Coach since 2018. Warner has steadily built the program from 3 wins in 2018 to 7 wins the following year in 2019. New Oxford won 6 games each of the following seasons until their breakthrough last year. New Oxford should have a good chance to continue that success this season.
Top returning players:
Highlights
Idriz Ahmetovic Idriz Ahmetovic 6'0" | 180 lbs | DB New Oxford | 2024 State PA . Ahmetovic is a talented defensive back who makes a ton of plays all over the field. He should have a good chance to play College Football after a strong Senior Year. Below is what I wrote about him earlier this year:
New Oxford. Ahmetovic is a ball-hawk cornerback. He made several interceptions on his film and other times he broke up balls while in coverage. From his cornerback position, he is able to anticipate where the quarterback is going with the play and then make a play on the ball. The other key part of his coverage ability is his ability to highpoint a ball and make a play on the ball. Finally, Ahmetovic is really good at run support. You can tell on film he is not afraid to come up and make a tackle from his cornerback position.
Brennan Holmes Brennan Holmes 6'0" | 175 lbs | WR New Oxford | 2024 State PA . Holmes is a dynamic wide receiver who can do it all at the wide receiver position. Holmes is another talented athlete for New Oxford. Below is what I wrote Holmes earlier this year:
Holmes played wide receiver for New Oxford last year. He is a big-play wide receiver. He scored a touchdown on a deep pass play, a short pass play, and a punt return. He has good speed and just runs past defenders, especially in the open field. Holmes runs good routes and shows a good ability to make subtle moves in his route running. In contested catches, Holmes is very good at coming down with difficult catches. Holmes is a good wide receiver who should only get better next season.
Kylan Lamke Kylan Lamke 6'2" | 270 lbs | OL New Oxford | 2024 State PA . Lamke played left tackle last year. Lamke is a good athlete who moves well from his offensive tackle position. Several times in his film Lamke is able to go out on a wide receiver screen and block defensive backs. He does a nice job of pass-blocking and staying in front of a defensive lineman. Lamke also showed a good ability to block down on defensive linemen on double teams. He then showed the ability to block linebackers well when he needed to go to the next level to block them. Lamke showed good skills and should be even better next year.
Jarret Blitzer
Jarret Blitzer
Jarret Blitzer. Blitzer played inside linebacker last year. He has natural instincts at the linebacker position. He does a nice job of reading and reacting to the play and then coming upfield taking on a blocker and then going upfield to make the tackle. He is a sideline to sideline linebacker who chases plays all over the field. He has the athleticism and the speed to accomplish this. He is a good tackler, especially in the open field. Blitzer is a talented player that with a strong Senior year should have a chance to play College Football.
Micah Smith Micah Smith 6'2" | 240 lbs | DL New Oxford | 2024 State PA . Smith played defensive line last year. He is a disruptive defensive lineman that you can move up and down the defensive line and he will be disruptive at all the different positions. He uses his hands well and engages with offensive lineman. He explodes off the ball and is hard to block one on one. He is really good motor and he is constantly chasing plays from all over the field. Smith’s versality is outstanding because he can play as an edge defender and also inside as a defensive tackle. Smith is a talented player who should have a chance to play College Football in the future.
Clayton Nieves
Clayton Nieves
Clayton Nieves. Nieves played running back last year. He has limited film, and most of it was from Junior Varsity, but he showed good skills at running back. He hits the hole well and runs hard. He has a good speed and when he gets into the open field he runs by defenders. Nieves should be having a bigger role this year for New Oxford.
Final Thoughts: New Oxford lost some good players from last year’s team, but should be in contention for another Division Title this year. Coach Warner has shown he is can build a program and sustain it. The next step for New Oxford is to continue the dominance next year. I would not count out New Oxford’s team this year.
