There’s a reason why it’s called Student-Athlete, not Athlete-Student! I looked through Twitter to find some 2025 prospects with stellar grades! Again, these GPAs come solely from the athlete’s public Twitter account.
QB | Ryan LaFear Ryan LaFear 6'0" | 175 lbs | QB Anchor Bay | 2025 State MI | Anchor Bay | Hudl
GPA: 4.0
I’ve mentioned Ryan multiple times as a major breakout candidate for this coming season, and It’s also great to see him do well in the classroom. I remain quite optimistic about his potential on the field this fall, as he’s performed extremely well and extremely consistently throughout this offseason. Although he hasn’t been as publically active as some other prospects, he won MVP at the Prep Redzone showcase back in April against a few prominent guys that I have DII grades on. Ryan has always been among the most fundamentally sound players in this class. He’s able to stand in the pocket and make calculated throws with a bit of zip. Thanks to his work in the classroom, GPA will be a big boost to his recruitment next summer.
RB | Elijah Jones Elijah Jones 5'11" | 190 lbs | RB East Kentwood | 2025 State MI | East Kentwood | Hudl
GPA: 3.9
Elijah was a prospect I recently saw at Grand Valley’s first prospect camp, and he really shined. The RB group there wasn’t as stacked as the third camp, but Elijah was without a doubt a top 2 back at his camp. I especially loved his quick feet relative to his size. It’s going to be interesting to see how big Elijah’s role will be this Fall in the East Kentwood offense, though I am confident he’ll do well.
WR | Conner Temple Conner Temple 6'2" | 190 lbs | WR Utica Eisenhower | 2025 State MI | IKE | Hudl
GPA: 3.9
Conner is a big deep threat that is also a solid route-runner and physical receiver. He’s able to use his body to better win contested catches and route-running to earn separation deep. His hands also seem quite sticky, and his concentration going into the catch is great. His film also shows a few clutch catches in big moments. If Conner can get himself a bit more explosive and athletic, then he’s a DII guy all day long. Obviously, it helps that he gets it done in the classroom as well!
DL/OL | Syncere Hobson Syncere Hobson 6'2" | 260 lbs | OL Grand Rapids Union | 2026 MI | GR Union | Hudl
GPA: 4.12
Whoever ends up getting Syncere is getting the full package, truly. This is a player who has grinded extremely hard on and off the field to be in the great position he is today. In the classroom, he seems to be absolutely killing it. On the field, he’s set to start his 3rd-year of Varsity ball, this time being a full-time two-way lineman. He was a good O-Lineman in the OK-Green last season, but he’s really working to show out on the Defensive line this coming season. It’s also notable that Syncere is one of the kindest guys I’ve met. I haven’t talked about Syncere enough, and I truly think he trends toward being a great DII football player.
DE | Bobby Kanka Bobby Kanka 6'4" | 255 lbs | DL Howell | 2025 State MI | Hartland | Hudl
GPA: 3.97
Bobby truly has it all. The complete opposite of me in High School, Bobby has a near-perfect GPA while being a Top-5 player in the 2025 class. This is a true power-5 prospect with a few elite traits. Elite size, strength, and explosiveness are just a few traits that make Bobby stand out from the average defensive lineman.
