Let’s take a look…
Isaiah Womble Isaiah Womble 6'3" | 205 lbs | DL John Milledge | 2024 State GA – John Milledge
A hard-hitting, versatile defender who can make plays on offense, defense, and special teams, Womble is the definition of a true “football player”. No matter where the 6-foot-3 205-pounder is lined up, he’s going to compete and play as hard as he can. A tremendous athlete, Womble has good size, length, and an excellent motor. As a defender, he can run down the ball-carrier and deliver a giant hit. He’s quick off the ball, instinctive, and has a true nose for the football. He plays with a physical presence and will be able to make a massive impact all over the field once again in 2023. He’s a coach’s dream as far as versatility and competitiveness, and he was an easy addition to the latest update, now coming in at No. 101 overall in Georgia for the 2024 class.
Nasir Johnson Nasir Johnson 6'4" | 300 lbs | DL Dublin | 2024 State GA – DL – Dublin
A powerful interior lineman that brings eye-opening athleticism in a big 6-foot-5 290-pound frame, the Dublin standout saw his recruitment take off this year, and made his college commitment to the Florida Gators back on June 17th. Now, he’s been added to the rankings and made a massive jump into the top 100, earning the No. 39 spot now in the peach-state. The small-town lineman is a game-wrecker on the defensive line, clogging running lanes between the tackles and making his way into the backfield on a consistent basis. He’s quick of the line for his size and has an impressive swim move that allows him to get off blocks. He plays with good leverage and does a good job of driving offensive linemen backwards, creating a mess for the opponent’s rushing attack. He plays on both sides of the ball and is bound for a monster senior season in 2023.
Ryan Jenkins Ryan Jenkins 6'4" | 220 lbs | DL Westover | 2024 State GA – Westover
One of the top natural pass rushers and most productive defensive linemen not only in Albany, but across South Georgia, Jenkins was a dominant force on the defensive line last year, and was easily added to the latest update, earning the No. 142 spot in the country. A havoc-wrecking lineman who lived in the backfield last season, Jenkins has great size at 6-foot-4 230-pounds, Jenkins has easy D1 size, and while he already has an impressive offer list loaded with D1 offers including USF, Boston College, Iowa State, Coastal Carolina, among others. As a prospect, Jenkins is a QB’s worst nightmare. He’s explosive off the snap and can beat opposing defenders with both speed and power. As a junior last fall, the Albany, Georgia native made 68 tackles, an outstanding 18 TFLs, and an eye-opening 10.5 sacks. He made it look easy at times, and he’s likely bound for an even bigger senior season in the fall.
Lorenzo Cowan Lorenzo Cowan 6'3" | 215 lbs | DL Jenkins | 2024 State GA – Jenkins
One of the top overall defenders in Savannah returning for the 2023 season, Cowan is a versatile, productive defender who can play outside linebacker or with his hand down in the dirt at 6-foot-3 220-pounds. After an excellent junior season where he sacked the quarterback eight times, the promising pass rusher was added to the 2024 Rankings in the latest update, and now sits in the No.131 spot in the state. We wrote about him as an “under the radar” guy for the longest time, but it’s hard to put that label on him now as he holds offers from Kentucky, Memphis, App State, West Virginia, Toledo, Virginia Tech, among others. The Savannah area is loaded with impressive prospects, and Cowan is one of the best on the defensive side of the ball in the 2024 class. Look for him to continue getting after the quarterback on a consistent basis this fall.
