As players wrap up their 7v7 seasons and wrap up attending camps and showcases, I wanted to take a look into each class within the state and see which teams that you need to keep an eye on as the season goes along. Here are a couple teams in the 2A class that could be sleeper teams to keep an eye on.

Tumwater HS - Last Season: 9-2

Tumwater was a solid team last year, only losing 2 games during the season and one of those was in the first round of the state tournament to Sedro-Woolley. They will have quite a bit of talent returning on both sides of the ball, which will really help the squad. Key defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1108491' first='Alex' last='Hach'] ('24, DL) will be back to get to the QB and stuff the run. Other players coming back are, Payton Laguerre ('24, RB), Tyler Criss ('24, DB), Logan Cole ('24, RB/DB), David Malroy ('25, WR/DB), [player_tooltip player_id='1108536' first='Dane' last='Iversen'] ('24, LB), [player_tooltip player_id='1108541' first='Ethan' last='Kastner'] ('24, QB), and more.

WF West HS - Last Season: 10-2

WF West might not be a "sleeper" team given they were the 2nd seed in the state championship game and lost in the semi-final round to North Kitsap, 22-29. They are an extremely well coached team and have a ton of talent on the squad. They will be losing Gavin Fugate (QB) but with [player_tooltip player_id='693694' first='Gage' last='Brumfield'] ('25, WR/DB) and [player_tooltip player_id='693766' first='Tucker' last='Land'] ('25, RB) returning, they will bringing back 2 key playmakers who can help lead the squad once again. Carson White ('25, QB) is a name to watch as well, if he is named the starter.

Highline HS - Last Season: 10-2

Highline surprised a lot of people last season when they made the state tournament. They lost in the 2nd round to Lynden, the eventual champs. Highline will be bringing back quite a bit of talent from the team last year and they will be more experienced, which is always a great thing. [player_tooltip player_id='348174' first='Ronan' last='Rasmussen'] ('25, QB) will be back to again lead the team. He showed quite a bit of promise last season and should be even better this year. [player_tooltip player_id='338806' first='Nat' last='Clay'] ('24, DB/RB), [player_tooltip player_id='158334' first='Marquawn' last='McCraney'] ('25, DB/WR), and [player_tooltip player_id='865636' first='Adam' last='Estrada'] ('25, WR/DB) are some other key names to keep an eye on for the squad.

Archbishop-Murphy HS - Last Season: 0-8

Now this one might surprise a lot of people but, trust me on this one. The Wildcats are going to be ready to compete within the 2A Northwest Conference. It is stacked with a plethora of solid teams but they will be able to play teams tough. They were a very young team and will have quite a few players who have varsity experience under their belts, coming back. [player_tooltip player_id='314527' first='Diontaye' last='Moorman'] ('24, DB) will arguably be the teams best player on the roster next season and should be a top player in the state as well. Isaak Smith ('24, ATH) is a name to keep an eye on as he can play many positions. Some other names to keep an eye on are Javen Latta ('27, WR/DB), [player_tooltip player_id='726172' first='Inoke' last='Pomale'] ('26, OL), [player_tooltip player_id='987162' first='Hakeim' last='Smalls'] ('26, DL), Jonah Wilson ('24, RB), [player_tooltip player_id='945885' first='Mateen' last='Usui'] ('25, WR), [player_tooltip player_id='987158' first='Jack' last='Sievers'] ('26, TE/DL), and [player_tooltip player_id='945849' first='Traevon' last='Phifer'] ('25, ATH). Be on the lookout for the 'Cats.
