Going 9-4 Northern Highlands was lead by two returning QBs that both equally lit up the scoreboard and never gave the opposing defense any rest. Northern Highlands was able to beat Ramapo in the sectional finals, then only to fall to Millville in the state championship. A 2024 QB, JR was able to throw for over 1000 yards in 2022 and also toss 13 touchdowns with only 5 interceptions. JR was very impressive within the pocket. He demonstrates quick and choppy feet as he feels the pressure around him and surveys the field. He is able to pivot around, avoid the rush, and still make a play downfield. JR has very deep arm talent and can put the ball where it needs to be. He is accurate on the run and is able to get defenders to commit to him, only to loft it over top to a wide open man. A wide receiver that was able to bring the ball to the end zone 12 times and receive 647 yards, Danny has a nose for the end zone and can run multiple routes in the red zone to get in for the touchdown. A player that can catch the ball in traffic, he is extremely reliable and is a receiver you can trust to catch the 50/50 ball.rnrnAs a runner his long strides allow him to outrun defenders down the sideline. And when first contact comes, he rarely goes down. Defensively Danny essentially plays receiver from the safety position. It is very hard to get the ball overtop of him as he was able to pick the ball off 3 times last season. And with 65 tackles, he accelerates towards the ball carrier to deliver a shot and can also shake the ball loose from any receiver's hands. This team utilizes the strengths of both very well, with Nate playing a larger role in the run game. As a passer, Nate was able to toss 1345 passing yards and 11 touchdowns last season. He is another guy that can roll to the outside, get his shoulders squared up, and release a dime downfield. He throws the ball with some zip on it and is capable of throwing accurate 40+ yards throws. He has a very quick release and is not afraid to stand tall in the pocket and wait until the last second to toss it to his receiver.rnrnAs a runner, Nate ran for 387 yards and 6 touchdowns last season. He is an elusive runner that uses a combination of agility and power to get to the second level. He also plays well up at the line where he presses the receiver and is able to stay hip to hip downfield. And when the ball gets close, he is able to swat it out of the receiver's hands to stop any big plays from happening.
