Let's take a look...

[player_tooltip player_id='851051' first='Trajen' last='Greco'] - Mill Creek

The Mill Creek secondary was one of the best in Georgia last year, and a big reason why they went on to win the 7A state title last season. Of course, they had 5-star Caleb Downs on the roster, but they also had playmaking safety [player_tooltip player_id='851051' first='Trajen' last='Greco'] making plays in the secondary. A new addition to the rankings now ranked as the No. 78 prospect in the state, Greco was a playmaking machine for the Hawks last year, making 61 tackles and five INTs on the year. He also broke up an eye-opening 17 passes last year. He's excellent in coverage and closes well with the ball in the air. He's also an excellent run defender and a sure tackler in the open field. He's one of the top returning defensive backs in the area and holds offers from Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Vanderbilt, among others. As good as he was as a junior last year, look for him to improve more and more in 2023.

[player_tooltip player_id='856393' first='Jacob' last='Boyce'] - Douglas County

A versatile defensive back with tremendous ball skills, Boyce is a true playmaking defender who makes his Prep Redzone debut at No. 105 in the state after an excellent junior season. At 6-foot-0 180-pounds Boyce is not afraid of contact, but his ability to make plays in coverage is why he was added to the list. He has easy D1 size and knows how to leap into the air and make a tough catch against receivers. He's fundamentally sound, shows great technique, footwork, and gets his head turned around with the ball in the air. One of the top defenders in the area regardless of position, Boyce did his job every Friday night last year. As a junior, Boyce made 49 tackles, four INTs, and causes two fumbles. There's a lot to like about his game, and he currently holds offers from West Virginia, Troy, Middle Tennessee State, among others.

[player_tooltip player_id='856376' first='Jaiden' last='Patterson'] - Mill Creek

A fundamentally sound defensive back with natural instincts and cover skills, Patterson is another athletic Mill Creek defender who does his job on every play. He has a lengthy frame at 6-foot-2 195-pounds with enough size and physicality to possibly contribute early at North Carolina, where he's committed to play at the next level. Not only does he have Power Five size, but he's a great overall athlete as well. He's excellent in the return game on special teams and has the ability to turn around and play offense if Mill Creek ever needs a boost at receiver. He plays the ball well, moves really well for his size, and again, his natural athleticism is easy to see. He's now ranked in the 2024 Prep Redzone rankings as the No. 95 overall prospect in the state. As a junior last season, Patterson made 55 tackles, broke up 13 passes, and blocked two field goals.

[player_tooltip player_id='896608' first='Cedric' last='Franklin'] II – Kell

A Cobb County defensive back with big-time talent and ball skills with a good 6-foot-2 190-pound frame, Franklin II showed big-play ability on a consistent basis last season as a junior for an impressive Kell program. He played on an extremely talented defense, and he really stood out all season long. Franklin was an easy addition to the latest Rankings update, debuting at No. 155 in the state in the latest update. He shows quick feet, closes well on the receiver, and knows how to make a play on the ball. He plays the center field role at safety, ranging from the middle of the field to the sideline with ease. He shows good instincts in coverage, but he's also a physical and willing tackler. He's one of the more can be an intimidating defenders in the area and someone opposing quarterbacks have to keep a close eye on. Last season as a junior, the Kell defender made 39 tackles and broke up seven passes according to MaxPreps. Look for him to have a giant senior season for a Kell program with eyes on a deep playoff run in 2023.
