Let's take a closer look at some of the top uncommitted prospects remaining in North Carolina.

2024 5'10 175 DB/WR - [player_tooltip player_id='641179' first='Deuce' last='Walker'] - Salisbury

3 star defensive back and wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='641179' first='Deuce' last='Walker'] remains uncommitted at the moment, and he recently announced his final eight schools: JMU, Coastal Carolina, ODU, GSU, UK, Duke, VT, and UNCC. Walker is clearly a spectacular receiver, and he already plays the position like a veteran. His immense experience on offense really translates well to the DB position because it always seems like he knows exactly what's coming. On both sides of the ball, [player_tooltip player_id='641179' first='Deuce' last='Walker'] is phenomenal at reading plays, and he's the type of player that thrives defensively because he possesses great instincts that he isn't afraid to follow. He will no doubt continue to dominate offensively as well this upcoming season, however, my prediction is, depending on where he commits, that he plays mostly DB during his college career because his skill is just so elite at that position. You must be a great receiver in order to be a great defensive back, and I believe that [player_tooltip player_id='641179' first='Deuce' last='Walker'] is the best of both worlds.

2024 5'10 165 DB - [player_tooltip player_id='465342' first='Brandon' last='Crutchfield'] - Heritage

[player_tooltip player_id='465342' first='Brandon' last='Crutchfield'] consistently lit up the stat sheets in 2022, and I believe that 2023 will be no different. He finished the season with a spectacular 8 ints, 15 pbus, and 51 total tackles on defense. On offense, he recorded 10 total touchdowns both rushing and receiving. [player_tooltip player_id='465342' first='Brandon' last='Crutchfield'] epitomizes the phrase, ‘two way player', and there's no doubt in my mind that he will make a huge difference on any D1 program's defensive secondary unit. His more than 1,000 total yards earned him 2nd Team All-State honors on both sides of the ball, and there really just isn't much that Crutchfield doesn't thrive at on the football field at this level. He currently holds offers from school such as ODU, Elon, Marshall, Bethune-Cookman, and others. All eyes must be on [player_tooltip player_id='465342' first='Brandon' last='Crutchfield'] and the Heritage Huskies football team this upcoming season.

2024 5'10 175 DB/RB - [player_tooltip player_id='626902' first='Jamarie' last='Davis'] - Grimsley

[player_tooltip player_id='626902' first='Jamarie' last='Davis']' elite performance last season was of paramount importance to the Grimsley Whirlies' unwavering success. The team achieved a perfect 7-0 conference record, and they also finished the season off with a dominant 15-1 overall record. Davis shuts down opposing receivers with his lightning quick speed, and he also utilizes that speed well on offense where he occasionally takes snaps at ball carrier. His experience rushing the ball will pay dividends next season, and I believe that he'll have the best offensive season of his career this Fall as a result. Over the course of his career, his defensive numbers already stand-out for themselves. [player_tooltip player_id='626902' first='Jamarie' last='Davis'] has 74 tackles, 7 tackles for a loss, 2 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and 3 blocked punts. There's simply no denying Davis' incredibly high ceiling, and my prediction is that he thrives on defense at the next level.

2024 6'0 215 LB/RB - [player_tooltip player_id='308730' first='Ryan' last='Ziegler'] - Cardinal Gibbons

The All-Conference LB and 2021 4A State Champion, [player_tooltip player_id='308730' first='Ryan' last='Ziegler'], already has a handful of elite offers from D1 programs such as Army, Navy, UAB, Bethune-Cookman, The Citadel and more. His tackling ability is absolutely off the charts fantastic, and he's racked-up nearly 100 total tackles over the course of his career so far. Ziegler is also a force to be reckoned with as a RB out of the backfield for the Crusaders. He has rushed for 443 yards and 8 TDs during his first three seasons, and I can guarantee you that his Senior season will be his best one yet. You'd be hard pressed to find a more well-rounded uncommitted player in North Carolina than [player_tooltip player_id='308730' first='Ryan' last='Ziegler'] of Cardinal Gibbons. He will make a huge impact on someone's program at the next level.

2024 5'9 210 LB - [player_tooltip player_id='680331' first='Tyquan' last='Rankin'] - Butler

Last Fall, [player_tooltip player_id='680331' first='Tyquan' last='Rankin'] earned both All-Conference honors and Conference Defensive Player of the Year honors at the linebacker position. He led his Butler Bulldogs squad in total tackles with 134, and he also led in tackles per game with 10.3 on average. Rankin is undeniably the heartbeat of the Butler Bulldogs' defense, and when he's making plays the entire unit steps up to the task and finishes plays. He leads by example and through action, therefore I believe that [player_tooltip player_id='680331' first='Tyquan' last='Rankin'] is one of the elite remaining prospects in the state whose recruitment remains open. Scouts across North Carolina must know his name.
