Our Spring rankings update pinpointed even more players from the 2024, 2025 and 2026 classes. For a variety of reasons, our team decided that each of those new additions were worthy of a coveted spot in our rankings.

But we'd be naive to think we've evaluated everyone or didn't miss a few along the way.

PRZ South Carolina is constantly looking at as many of the 10,000 prep football players in the SCHSL and SCISA ranks as possible. Now, the Community Film Room is back.

In each edition, we'll break down five (currently) unranked players from across the state to let you see what we're seeing. The series will lead right into the the start of the 2023 football season and - not long after - our next rankings update.

In Episode 39, we spread the wealth, looking at a center playing in front of a highly rated quarterback, a tailback expected to carry an offense, a defensive lineman and a defensive back each with some serious length and a linebacker ready to eclipse a monster junior season.

[player_tooltip player_id='996935' first='Bryant' last='Ham'] OL, Irmo

While much of the development of the Irmo offense is being laid at the feet of quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='272713' first='AJ' last='Brand'], Ham's own growth at center is arguably just as important. The 6-foot-2, 250-pound lineman is adept with both Brand under center or in the gun. He's an accurate snapper in the latter and allows the rest of the offense's timing to remain intact. That's when the real fun begins for Ham. His initial movements get him into position to block the man directly over the top of him, drop back into pass protection and even pull on occasion.

Jaxson Moody DL, Mid-Carolina

In a sport full of big guys, Moody and his 6-foot-5, 235-pound frame gives the Mid-Carolina defensive staff a lot to love. While his 80-inch wing span suggests he might add another inch or two in the coming seasons, he's also primarily playing an interior line spot now and could bulk up to increase his chances there. For now, he's got the reach and footwork to make his size count. Moody has excellent lateral movement and is an above-average tackler who doesn't miss his mark in the middle third of the field.

Philijuan Saldana RB, Branchville

Saldana (pictured) has spent the better part of two seasons finding ways to surprise people. Despite everyone knowing the tailback was the first and second priority of this offense, the 6-foot, 190-pound weapon with a 4.76 laser-timed 40 has broken tackles, outrun defenders and even broken out wide when the Yellow Jackets need to throw for a first down. Saldana is slightly covered up by the fact that Branchville only won three games last season. But both of those things could change this fall behind the team's star running back.

[player_tooltip player_id='997218' first='Tyson' last='Moses'] LB, Hillcrest

The Rams' leading tackler from the 2022 season finished with 85 total stops, 2.5 sacks, two tackles for loss, a pair of forced fumbles and an interception. He was a key piece in a defense that allowed only 15 points per game against a highly respectable schedule. Moses was often asked to cover the entire middle of the defense as the sole linebacker in specific sets and had no issue roaming free and making all those tackles. At 5-foot-9 and 185 pounds, Moses probably won't get a ton of attention, but his production speaks for itself.

Zachary Cheatham DB, Clover

You know how every school has a kid they like to get into jump-ball situations near the end zone? Cheatham is the antithesis. Between his height and vertical, the 6-foot-3, 170-pound safety isn't going to get out-jumped. He finished his junior season with 30 tackles, seven pass break-ups, three tackles for loss, two picks and a sack. First-year coach Perry Woolbright is going to expect an even bigger year out of Cheatham, not only for himself, but the players around him.
