7-2A 2023 Breakout Players (Part 1 of 2)

We will start in alphabetical order by team name. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><em>Fannin County Rebels </em></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Rebels have an outstanding rising 2025 Class and we had a hard time narrowing the selections down to two names. Has a good nose for the football and understands tackling angles. He does a good job at coming up and making tackles in run support. Has a knack for knowing how to get lost behind the DL on the blitz. Quick and plays with a passion for the game. Coaches comment on how hard he works on and off the field. As a sophomore he benched 305 and had a PC max of 300. Shows good strength to play through the blockers, making several one-armed tackles while engaged. Has the speed to get out and cover the screen pass. Good vision in the pass game. Sits back and has decent coverage in the flat but once he decides it's a run play he has a good first step to ball carrier/QB. The kind of tackler you like to see from your LB spot, stops the ball carrier in their tracks with no YAContact. One guy not on this list that is worth keeping an eye on is rising Senior [player_tooltip player_id='889490' first='Peyton' last='Chastain']. I saw this guy in person twice last season and in both games he impressed me. Not the biggest guy physically but he makes up for it in effort. Will become a better tackler as he gets stronger but is good in coverage with quick reaction time and good hands. Was a 2nd Team All Region selection last season as a sophomore. Coaches have said he is able to play any position on the field, offense of defense. Most of his film from last season is at the DE/LB spot. Good at shedding blocks and making tackles. Has good speed at this level and pursues well from sideline to sideline. Had a couple of sacks, FF and caught a pass for a TD in the Spring game. He is one that we will definitely keep an eye on over the next 2 seasons. Fierce competitor with a mean streak that don't back down from a challenge. I saw him at the Shorter Camp and he showed good technique and gets out of his stance well. To say this guy is aggressive would be an understatement. Sheds blockers well and is a finisher when he gets to the ball carrier. If you are a fan of old school football this is a guy to watch. Long, lean build that still has room to add good weight. Had a long jump of 8'10 at one of the camps. Raw DB prospect that uses his speed to close and is a decent tackler in space. Has the ability to stretch defenses vertically from the WR position.
