South Georgia, as we know, has long been one of the most fertile recruiting grounds in the entire southeast. Here, I start my South Georgia focus by digging into a handful of prospects that caught my attention on tape.

[player_tooltip player_id='856367' first='Maurice' last='Davis'] Jr. - 2024 - EDGE - Dougherty

Ole Miss quietly snuck into south GA to land one of the most energetic EDGE defenders in GAs 2024 class. Listed at 6'4 215, Davis is off the charts when it comes to length and physical upside. He is still thin, almost resembling a safety coming off the edge. However, the peak of his athletic development is still ahead of him. Davis is a pure pursuer off the edge. His explosiveness first step paired with his speed allows him to shoot past blockers and flush the QB before he can even get into his drop. With his long arm, Davis is able to separate himself by locking out his arms and occasionally uses an arm-over move to free himself. Against the run, he can absolutely chase from the backside and offers a wide tackling radius. He has the speed and suddenness to mirror RBs on the outside, giving him good spatial awareness. He is a strider downfield that frequently flags down ball carriers way downfield. His long strides gift him with acceleration and the extra boost to close on the football. Davis is an outstanding athlete with good measurables and high upside. Davis could be an SEC contributor with further development in S&C.

Cole Shaw - 2024 - WR - Thomasville

Shaw is a deceptive, big-body receiver who is soaring up my board. Shaw isn't a burner, but he has a large catch radius and does a good job of taking what the defensive back gives him. He shows excellent footwork in his release and at the top of his routes. He has the ability to get up on the DB and stack moves to get them off-platform and guessing. When the ball is in the air, Shaw does a great job of kicking into another gear and sprinting to the spot. Shaw has outstanding body awareness, getting his feet down on the sideline and proving that he can make acrobatic catches downfield in tight coverage. Shaw isn't a super physical receiver, but he absorbs contact well and has the hands to pluck the ball away from defenders. Shaw is an FBS-caliber receiver who deserves way more exposure on the trail.

Trey Brenton - 2024 - RB - Thomas County Central

Brenton is a low-to-the-ground, bowling ball-style back who proves difficult to bring down in space. He attacks the line of scrimmage with his patience and vision. Once he gets past the LOS, he turns on another gear and runs exceptionally hard. He will need a runway to separate as he isn't a super twitchy runner, but it often takes numerous defenders to bring him down, especially once he gets going. Brenton is frequently given the ball on the outside where he can pinpoint running lanes and put his foot in the ground to get downhill in a hurry. I wouldn't say Brenton is a big-time receiving threat out of the backfield, but he shows natural hands and can wreck through smaller defenders on the outside. Brenton has the size and strength to handle a workload at the next level and can create his own yards, which makes him an intriguing prospect that smaller schools should be after.

Temirez Williams Jr - 2024 - DB - Lee County

Williams is a sturdy, downfield DB prospect who can absolutely settle into a specific role at the D1 level. Williams' tape is littered with explosive pursuit plays all over the field. I would describe Williams as a heat-seeking missile. Once he locks in on a target, he does whatever he can to close the distance and make firm contact. Williams has the athleticism and range to drop back into coverage, but he simply seems more comfortable and generally better in the middle of the action. He can navigate through the gaps confidently and sneak right by blockers. He also takes good angles to the football. When going in for the tackle, Williams does a good job of striking from a low, athletic stance where he can adjust easier to any last-second cuts made by the ball carrier. Williams has D1 offers and has the ability to be an extremely productive tackler at the FCS-GO5 level.

[player_tooltip player_id='908917' first='D'ontae' last='Fulton'] - 2025 - WR - Worth County

Fulton is a long, lanky, fluid receiver with some high upside. Fulton is a multi-level playmaker with the speed and twitchiness to create separation. At the top of his route, he shows the suddenness to chop his feet and come to a complete stop, which freezes defenders and causes Fulton to slip right by. He is efficient after the catch as well, showing the fluidity to weave in and out of running lanes and make his way to the endzone. Perhaps his most impressive quality is his hands. He can snag the football on the move without having to readjust and recover. He can also snag the ball in tight coverage, sometimes with one hand. Fulton is still growing as a receiver, but he has the athletic traits and speed profile to draw plenty of attention from FBS and P5 coaches.
