Continue ReadingWyomissing is one of the best programs in District 3 and the State of Pennsylvania. They won their 4th straight District 3 Championship last year. They started the season with 13 straight wins and eventually lost to Neumann-Goretti 20-17 in a heartbreaking PIAA State Playoff Game. They also won Section 4 of the Lancaster-Lebanon for the first time since the Lancaster-Lebanon and Berks football leagues merged last year. Wyomissing has consistently shown they are one of the better teams in the area and have won 11 PIAA District titles and a PIAA Championship in 2012.
Coaching Update:
Bob Wolfrum is a coaching legend who is starting his 37th season as Head Football Coach at Wyomissing. He is the 2nd winningest-active coach in Pennsylvania and has a record of 350-87-1. Wyomissing is consistently one of the best programs in the District and the State. Wolfrum also owns the most wins in District 3 after he passed former Manheim Central Head Coach Mike Williams. No other way to slice it, but Wolfrom is a coaching legend and has created one of the best programs in the State.
Key returning players:
Caleb Brewer Caleb Brewer 6'5" | 285 lbs | OL Wyomissing | 2024 State PA . The 1st place we start is with Caleb Brewer Caleb Brewer 6'5" | 285 lbs | OL Wyomissing | 2024 State PA the all-everything Wyomissing player. Brewer is committed to Penn State and it is well deserved because he is a good player. He is projected as an offensive tackle or as a tight end at the next level. He has the size to play either. Below is what I wrote about Brewer earlier this year:
Brewer was the Swiss army knife for the Wyomissing football team. He played tight end, defensive line, and offensive tackle. He is a massive human being that is very physical along the line of scrimmage. He has great pad level for an offensive tackle. He also has very soft hands at tight end and can go over the middle on drag routes and make good catches. On defense, he is quick off the ball and is very disruptive.
Ryker Jones
Ryker
Jones
6'0" | 195 lbs | LB
Wyomissing Area | 2024
State
PA
. Jones is a difference-making linebacker for Wyomissing. The way he plays linebacker is an inspiring thing to see. Jones is a talented player who has committed to play for Princeton. Below is what I wrote about Jones earlier this year:
Jones is an elite athlete playing linebacker. Jones just flies around and makes plays all over the field. He is very good at reading and reacting to the play and then getting downfield and making the play. He is very good at dropping in coverage and making plays on the ball. He is also a very good Blitzer who can blitz from different positions to create havoc.
Ethan Brower
Ethan Brower
Ethan Brower. Brower played wide receiver and was Wyomissing’s punt returner last year. It is not easy being a wide receiver in a wing-t offense, that Wyomissing runs. Wyomissing is a run-heavy team, but Brower makes the most of his opportunities. He runs good routes and catches the ball well. I really like his out routes and comeback routes. He does a nice job running hard and stopping on a dime planting his feet and getting open. He also has good speed and if a defensive back leans one way he can run by them on a route. He also showed good speed and elusiveness on punt returns. Finally, Brower is not afraid to do the dirty work and block. He is a good blocker downfield. Brower is a talented player and he should not be overlooked. I think he should have a chance to play College Football with a strong Senior year.
Thomas Weller
Thomas Weller
Thomas Weller. Weller played guard and defensive end for Wyomissing last year. Weller is not the biggest offensive lineman you will see play the position, but he makes up for it with his strength and athleticism. In the wing-t offense, your guard should be athletic players who can pull and kick out defenders, this is where Weller excels. He is really good at pulling and blocking on sweeps and counters. He is also good at blocking traps. Weller also shows his strength when he is able to block bigger defense linemen. At defensive end, Weller really shows off your athleticism. He is really good at setting the edge and then going and chasing plays from the backside. He also has a motor that never stops and is constantly hustling to make plays all over the field. Weller is a good player who I think has a chance to play College Football in the future.
Evan Blickley Evan Blickley 6'3" | 210 lbs | TE Wyomissing Area | 2024 State PA . Blickley played tight end for Wyomissing last year. He is a good player that excelled at blocking in the wing-t offense. He does a really nice job with down blocking on defensive linemen. He is good at blocking linebackers as well. He has good strength and you see that strength with his blocking ability. Blickley also does a good job pulling from his tight-end position. He also has good size standing 6’3 inches tall. In limited receiving reps, he showed he can catch the ball and run good routes. Blickley recently got his 1st offer from Albright and I expect more offers to come his way soon.
Drew Forrey
Drew Forrey
Drew Forrey. Forrey played linebacker last year for Wyomissing. He is a hybrid player who is equally as good as a defensive end and an off-ball outside linebacker. At defensive end, he is really good at setting the edge and either making a play or forcing the ball inside. He is really good as a pass rusher, he uses his athleticism to run pass blockers. He is also good at chasing plays from behind and hustling to get into the play. As an off-the-ball linebacker, he is a good tackler, who especially tackles in the open field well. He is good in coverage and making a play on the ball. Forrey is also a turnover-creating machine, as I saw him several times create fumbles. Forrey is a good player who should have an opportunity to play College Football.
Derek Macrina Derek Macrina 5'11" | 170 lbs | ATH Wyomissing | 2025 State PA . Macrina played safety for Wyomissing last year. Macrina is a hybrid player for Wyomissing. He is equally as good in the book as a strong safety as he is in dropping in coverage. When he plays closer to the line of scrimmage he does a nice job containing the run with his run fits, but also does a good job dropping in his zone to make plays in the ball game. When he drops back to his safety position he does a nice job playing deep coverage and making a play on the ball. He is a ball hawk in the secondary, where he had several interceptions. Macrina is also a good tackler in the open field. Macrina had a nice sophomore year and I expect him to build on it.
Max Tipton Max Tipton 6'2" | DL Wyomissing | 2025 State PA . Max Tipton Max Tipton 6'2" | DL Wyomissing | 2025 State PA played defensive line and offensive line for Wyomissing. At defensive line he showed good strength and did a nice job in run support. He uses his hands well by engaging offensive linemen and extending his arms against offensive linemen. At offensive line he shows good technique and fires off the ball well. His strength really shows up at offensive line where he uses it to block defensive linemen. Tipton does a nice overall and should improve going forward this year.
Jordan Gwyn Jordan Gwyn DL Wyomissing | 2025 PA
Jordan Gwyn Jordan Gwyn DL Wyomissing | 2025 PA
Jordan Gwyn Jordan Gwyn DL Wyomissing | 2025 PA . Gwyn played defensive line for Wyomissing last year. Gwyn is a disruptive force in the middle of the Wyomissing defense. He does a great job attacking offensive lineman and then pushing the pile back into the backfield. He has a quick 1st step and gets off the ball extremely fast. When he gets off the ball he then uses his strength to bulldoze offensive linemen. Gwyn also showed a motor that never stops and does a nice job chasing down plays all over the field. Gynn has a ton of talent and should only improve this upcoming season.
Highlights
Chase Eisenhower Chase Eisenhower 5'11" | 215 lbs | RB Wyomissing | 2026 State PA . Eisenhower was a Freshman last year, but he displayed a good ability to make plays at running back and linebacker. I expect to be an even bigger contributor this year. Below is what I wrote about him earlier this year:
Eisenhower showed a ton of skill last year as a Freshman and there is a good chance he will have a big Sophomore year for Wyomissing. He is a big physical player. He has good athleticism and speed. At fullback when he hits the hole he runs downhill and hard. Then once he gets into the open field he has the speed to run away from the defense. At linebacker, he is physical and does a nice job attacking downfield. Eisenhower is an impressive player who I expect a big Sophomore year.
Collin Niedrowski Collin Niedrowski 6'0" | 175 lbs | LB Wyomissing Area | 2024 State PA . Niedrowski played linebacker and fullback for Wyomissing last year. He is a good player on either side of the ball and is a physical player. I expect Niedrowski to have a big year this year for Wyomissing. Below is what I wrote about him earlier this year:
At running back Niedrowski is a good running back who hits the hole well and gets downfield. Nothing fancy, just a solid tough nosed running back. He is the same as a linebacker. Niedrowski is just a good linebacker who comes downhill and makes plays. He has very good technique and uses that to read and react to the offensive play very well. Niedrowski rarely ever misses a tackle as he makes solid contact and cleans up plenty of plays from his linebacker position.
Logan Hyde
Logan Hyde
Logan Hyde. Hyde played safety for Wyomissing last year. He is a difference-maker at safety. Hyde shows good skills at safety position and made a ton of plays for Wyomissing’s defense last year. He had several interceptions for Wyomissing last year. Hyde does a nice job of playing coverage and then when the ball is in the air he does a nice job making a play on the ball. Hyde is also very good at providing running support. He is like a heat-sinking missile coming up to make tackles all over the field. Hyde is also going to be the starting quarterback this year for Wyomissing. The good part about being the starting QB for Wyomissing is the run a good system when tons of players are around to provide support.
Jeremiah Diaz Jeremiah Diaz 5'7" | 180 lbs | RB Wyomissing | 2024 State PA . Diaz played running back and linebacker for Wyomissing last year. At running back he shows good explosion when he hits the hole. He does a nice job hitting the hole and then making people miss in the hole. He is a physical runner who never goes down after the 1st tackler tries to bring him down. He also has legit speed and when he gets into the open field he runs by defenders. At linebacker, he shows good instincts and plays with an edge. Diaz should have a chance to play College Football with a strong senior year.
Craig Eberhart Craig Eberhart 6'3" | 200 lbs | OL Wyomissing | 2024 State PA . Eberhart is a good athlete who played defensive line last year. Eberhart is a tough player to block because he has good athleticism and shows good strength. He also does a nice job using his hands to engage offensive linemen and then he is able to use his strength to penetration in the backfield. Eberhart also has a motor that never stops and he is constantly able to chase plays down from all over the field. The other impressive part of his game was Eberhart was on the kickoff team. When he ran down the field he shows his elite speed and athleticism. I expect Eberhart with a strong Senior year will have a good chance to play College Football.
Caleb Beane Caleb Beane 6'3" | 240 lbs | OL Wyomissing | 2025 State PA . Beane has limited film from this past season, but he should get on the field this year for Wyomissing. Wyomissing does a nice job with developing players so I expect Beane to step up and at least rotate in at offensive or defensive line.
Coaches Quote Steven O’Neil Offensive/Defensive Line Coach Wyomissing:
“It was a very successful first season in the Lancaster Lebanon League. We had an undefeated regular season and won a very tough Section 4 Championship. We took that momentum and won another District 3 Championship. which was the 4th in a row before the season ended in a tough State Semifinal loss to Goretti”. Coach O’Neil
2023 Season Outlook:
Wyomissing will once again be in the running for one of the best teams in District 3 and the State of Pennsylvania. This team is loaded with future College Football players with Caleb Brewer Caleb Brewer 6'5" | 285 lbs | OL Wyomissing | 2024 State PA committed to Penn State already and Ryker Jones Ryker Jones 6'0" | 195 lbs | LB Wyomissing Area | 2024 State PA getting several looks as well. This is a talented and loaded team that should be in the running for the PIAA State Championship game this year.
