Nice work by OC getting Aaron Skinner to come back from Southern California to lead the program. The former assistant at West Linn did nothing but win while there, coaching with Oregon all-time great Chris Miller.

As most know, the Three Rivers League is ridiculous from a talent standpoint with all six teams essentially ranked in the state's 6A top 10. The Pioneers feature multiple D1 projected kids with 3* LB [player_tooltip player_id='278405' first='Clay' last='Martineau'] committing to Boise State just a few days ago.

Returning honorable mention all-conference QB [player_tooltip player_id='406768' first='Ben' last='Schneider'] will be key to making the Pioneer's season a success. He has been one of the more impressive 2025 athletes in the state this off season, consistently throwing a good ball. There will be very little room for error if they want to compete in the TRL but have the guys to win a few big games.

The biggest loss comes with the graduation of RB Marcus Jordan who went for over 1600 yards and 18 TDs. Undersized junior to be Nick Bochetti has looked the part coming up and should get an opportunity to showcase what he can do.

We've talked a lot about 6-5 250-pound TE/DE [player_tooltip player_id='511314' first='Brayden' last='Welch'] who will need to be a 30+ reception guy this season. He will team with Martineau who had a phenomenal season offensively last year, catching 39 passes for 488 yards and 4 TDs.

Defensively [player_tooltip player_id='278371' first='Ryder' last='Swanson'] could go down as one of the best to ever play D at Oregon City. The 2x all conference DE is somewhat undersized for the position but absolutely dominant. Expect him to be a TRL Defensive POY candidate, while combining with Martineau to account for 114 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, and 10 sacks. This will be necessary all year from these two and Welch if they want to stop TRL offenses.

Eron Harvey is one of the fastest athletes in the state on the track and comes back after a nice junior season where he made 32 total tackles and 2 PBUs.

All conference two-way standout Blake Lucas 24' (6-2 205) will be another key element to the team's success. It will take him and the likes of sophomore to be [player_tooltip player_id='914284' first='Gavyn' last='Welch'] 26' (6-3 250) stepping up and playing beyond his years if Oregon City is going to compete.

West Linn, Lake Oswego, and Tualatin will rank in the state's top 5. Lakeridge on paper is right there with them as well but were beat by Oregon City last season 29-28 during the regular season, before losing in the consolation bracket playoffs to the Pacers.

The new bracket set up is unfortunate, especially when you look at the strength of the Three Rivers League. All six teams should be in the 16-team championship bracket. That said if OC is able to beat one of the big three and then Lakeridge and Tigard, they will get a nice seed come playoff time.
