Continue ReadingLately the focus in the recruiting world has been centered around the upcoming senior class, and for good reason. They are the next group of prospects to make the jump to the collegiate-level, but that doesn’t mean recruiters can’t also look ahead to next year’s senior class. Even though the Class of ’25 rankings is already filled with a nice collection of talent, there’s still an abundance of quality unranked prospects waiting to be discovered. This is where the Watch List Series comes in.
As we’ve done through the past few class updates, we’ll be utilizing the Watch List to once again preview candidates for the next update. The Class of ’25 rankings currently stands at 150 ranked prospects, but in this update, we’ll be looking to expand the class to 175 spots. Here’s a look at five players that have been on our radar that could be a part of the incoming group.
Dimitri Washington
Dimitri Washington
The Maize Eagles’ skill position players have been heavily publicized over the past two seasons. But one area of their roster that deserves more credit is their offensive line. They’ve quietly developed some solid linemen in recent years, and Dimitri Washington is yet another looking to keep the trend going. The 6-foot-3, 305-pound prospect presents a collegiate-level ready frame, and he possesses the versatility to play multiple positions along the interior of the offensive line. Washington’s ability to play center and both guard positions could be vital for Maize’s offensive success this season.
Joseph Arnold
Joseph Arnold
With all the highly-touted recruits headlining Blue Valley Northwest’s 2023 squad, folks may be quick to overlook the rest of their roster. However, this would be a huge mistake. The Huskies have a number of talented prospects with the potential of earning a starting job this fall, and one in particular to keep an eye on is junior, Joseph Arnold. He’s a lengthy corner that excels at breaking on the ball and isn’t afraid to take risks. Arnold’s 6-foot-1 frame and coverage skills could be problematic for opposing offenses throwing his way.
Tannar McDaniel
Tannar McDaniel
The Piper Pirates fielded one of the more underrated defensive units in Class 4A last year. Their defense was led by a strong group of seniors, but there was one underclassmen that became a key contributor for them. Tannar McDaniel shined in his first season starting at safety for the Pirates in 2022. The 5-foot-10, 175-pound prospect chipped in 40 total tackles, five pass breakups, one forced fumble, and tied for second on the team with two interceptions. McDaniel’s awareness puts him in position to make plays, and he’s quick to close out on running plays and screen passes. He’s primed to be an All-League performer once again as a junior.
Tanner Woolston

There were quite a few prospects from this class that not only stepped into starting roles in 2022, but they also became impact players. While folks are likely familiar with some of these prospects at the top of the class, they may not know about Tanner Woolston of Andover. Woolston is the definition of an athlete, as he contributed in a multitude of ways last season. He returned kicks, caught passes out of the slot, took snaps at safety, and assisted on field goal blocks. But where he was most impactful was at quarterback. Woolston didn’t exactly shred defenses with his arm, but he did break them down with his legs. His rushing ability would help him earn an All-League Honorable Mention nod in 2022.
Jakdyn Mossallah

The second safety featured in this first Watch List for the Class of ’25 is Jakdyn Mossallah of Wichita East. There’s not much film from Mossallah’s 2022 campaign, but his performance during this past 7-On-7 season provided a glimpse of his potential. This is where our staff first discovered him, as he was a standout defender at the Capital City Showdown back in March. Mossallah continued to impressive throughout the 7-On-7 circuit, and was invited to multiple college camp showcases as well. With a strong summer in the weight room and on the practice field, Mossallah could earn a starting job this fall.
