#85 Des Witherspoon – McComb
What does the tape say?
Impressive length considering wiry frame that is still maturing. Good top half strength shows off the snap along with active hands. Prone to play too tall at times but a definite area to grow. Takes on blocks and works thru them with poise. Plays at his best with his hand on the ground. Has a hard nosed edge to him that shows particularly in pursuit of QB’s.
Position projection: EDGE
#84 JJ Claiborne – Jefferson County
What does the tape say?
Shorter compact frame that plays with feet under him and in rhythm. Not dynamic athletically but controls body smoothly. Shows vision both on the offensive and defensive side of the ball with production as a ball carrier and linebacker. Speed and twitch make him more of a linebacker fit at the next level. Knack for contact on both sides.
Position Projection: OLB
#83 Hampton Fisher – Lake Cormorant
What does the tape say?
Fisher’s frame screams tackle prospect. Good length with potential to continue adding size. Production playing in a really good division littered with talent. Plays with bend and produces in both run and pass blocking sets. Raw talent.
Position projection: Tackle
#82 Gavin Griffin – Velman Jackson
What does the tape say?
Small and thin physical presence but plays bigger. Above average straight line speed and burst with shiftiness. Agile runner but not afraid of contact. Changes directions with twitchiness. Production as runner, returner and pass catcher. Offensive weapon. Runs thru arms tackles. Sees the field well. Two down back at the next level with an emphasis outside the tackles.
Position projection: Running Back
#81 Jernmell Chaney – Collins
Good frame for the linebacker position with potential to add a little more growth. Chaney is at his best downhill as a run stopper and in blitz packages. Tackles with form. Knows where to be. Overall athletic ability doesn’t “wow” but gets the job done. Frame shows strength thru the play. Chaney is a serviceable, three down potential linebacker at the next level.
Position projection: Linebacker
