Prep Redzone has all the details…
Semaj Jenkins – Lincoln County
A tough, explosive back from South Georgia at Lincoln County, Jenkins may be on the smaller side right now at 5-foot-9 160-pounds, but make no mistake, he plays much bigger than his size. He shows good footwork and a knack for staying on his feet. He fights through contact and does a good job of driving forward for extra yards. He shows good vision and knows how to slip through a tiny hole between the tackles. Still known as an under the radar back, Jenkins is coming off a fantastic junior season where he rushed for over 1,000 yards and an eye-opening 17 touchdowns. He’s great in short-yardage situations and around the goal-line, which is really impressive considering his smaller stature. He was also a dependable option in the passing game, catching nine passes for just under 200 yards and five more touchdowns. Look for him to have an even bigger 2023 season as a senior.
Jaden Dailey – Camden County
An elusive back with impressive wiggle and burst, the Camden County standout has good size at 5-foot-10 195-pounds who showed the ability to take off for a big gain last year. One of the top returning backs in the area heading into the 2023 season, Dailey put up respectable numbers last year as a junior, rushing for 962 yards and an impressive 15 touchdowns. He ended the season incredibly strong, rushing for at least 80 yards in the final five games to end the 2022 season. His biggest game came in the playoffs against East Coweta where he rushed for an outstanding 194 yards and four touchdowns. He showed the ability to take games over, and has the potential do that over and over again next fall during his senior season.
Trey Brenton – Thomas County Central
Another physical back that’s really tough to bring down to the ground, Brenton was a tackle-breaking machine last year as a junior, bringing a powerful presence at 5-foot-10 185-pounds. He’s put together well from a physical standpoint and has good vision when looking for a hole to burst through. He’s got some wiggle and shiftiness for a bigger back and hits the hole hard down-hill. He helped lead the Yellow Jackets to a special season last year as they reached the 6A semi-finals. He put the offense on his back at times, rushing for over 100 yards in four of his last five games. His best game came in the playoffs against an outstanding Lee County defense where he rushed for 187 yards and one touchdown. In total, Brenton rushed for 955 yards and 10 touchdowns. The more he ran, the better he was. Look for him to have a breakout season as a senior next fall.
