I am excited to announce that I will be helping cover some of the top football prospects out of the “Hawkeye State”. I am new to the Iowa HS football scene so there is still some learning to do, but I’m excited to see a whole state of hungry prospects.
For my introductory article, I will feature a few prospects that caught my eye as I did some digging into Iowa preps.
Curtis Witte Curtis Witte 6'1" | 175 lbs | DB Lewis Central | 2024 State IA | 2024 | ATH | Lewis Central | 6’1″ 180 lbs
These past two years I’ve stayed mostly focused on Nebraska preps while occasionally dipping into the surrounding states. One player that I have kept an eye on during that time is Lewis Central ATH Curtis Witte Curtis Witte 6'1" | 175 lbs | DB Lewis Central | 2024 State IA . Curtis has been a top performer every time I watch him compete in person. His football IQ is what stands out the most about his game. At safety, he reads and reacts to plays extremely well with quick breaks on the ball. He has exceptional ball skills that resulted in a Class 4A-leading 8 interceptions. Witte has great speed that allows him to cover a huge range and close on the ball in a flash. At receiver, Curtis can identify soft zones and knows how to create separation from defenders. Witte also showed that he is dangerous after the catch, showing solid twitch and acceleration. He finished the season as one of the top producers in Class 4A with 51 receptions for 998 yards and 13 receptions. Curtis has recently hit a nice wave of momentum with offers from Wayne State, Washburn, Sioux Falls, and Midland. Elite athlete with proven production and a ton of upside!
Xzavion Robinson Xzavion Robinson 6'2" | 180 lbs | WR West Des Moines Valley | 2025 State IA | 2025 | WR | Valley High | 6’1″ 180 lbs
Valley WR Xzavion Robinson Xzavion Robinson 6'2" | 180 lbs | WR West Des Moines Valley | 2025 State IA stood out big time and I quickly saw why he is one of the top-ranked junior prospects in Iowa. Xzavion is an explosive receiver that can be a versatile player in any offense, as he can line up inside, outside, play X, play Y, etc. His route-running is top-tier with a great release at the snap, sharp breaks at the top of his route, and able to create separation. He is dangerous with the ball in his hands, possessing 4.51 speed and burst that helps him break away from defenders. Xzavion is consistent at the catch point with strong hands to hold on through contact. Overall, Xzavion is already an elite prospect, playing receiver at a high level, and only going to keep improving from here. His talent has earned him Power 5 offers from Colorado, Iowa, Iowa State, and Mizzou. Keep an eye out for this guy!
Kaden Amigon Kaden Amigon 6'0" | 185 lbs | ATH Columbus | 2024 State IA | 2024 | RB/ATH | Columbus | 5’10” 180 lbs
Kaden Amigon Kaden Amigon 6'0" | 185 lbs | ATH Columbus | 2024 State IA first caught my attention as a standout performer at the Stock Up showcase where he opened some eyes with his shifty running ability and upside as a receiving back. Kaden enjoyed a very productive junior season in which he rushed for 1,872 yards, 26 rushing touchdowns, and averaged 11.8 yards per carry. Amigon is very explosive when hitting his gaps and can accelerate past the defense in a flash. He can take a handoff between the tackles and absorb contact while staying upright. Kaden can also bounce the play to the outside and outrace everyone to the endzone with his 4.5 speed. Kaden has seen a nice boost in his recruitment with his first two offers from Grand View and Upper Iowa. Big season coming up for Kaden!
Jeremiah Madlock Jeremiah Madlock 6'2" | 185 lbs | WR City | 2024 IA | 2024 | WR/DB | Iowa City High | 6’1″ 190 lbs
Jeremiah Madlock Jeremiah Madlock 6'2" | 185 lbs | WR City | 2024 IA is a player that caught my attention during a 7v7 tournament in Council Bluffs. Jeremiah’s coverage skills and physicality were very impressive to watch. I’m even more impressed after watching his tape and seeing what he can do in pads. He projects well as either a defensive back or receiver with speed, agility, and a nose for big plays that translates to both sides. I like Jeremiah’s upside at cornerback the best, where he shows solid technique in coverage and possesses the measurables you like to see in modern CBs. He has lengthy arms that he uses very well to jam receivers at the line when playing press coverage. He plays the ball very well, using his hands to try and snag the ball or swat it away. One small detail that stood out about Jeremiah was his willingness to block on offense, always keeping his eyes downfield looking for blocks to pick up. Somebody offer this guy!
Vinnie Keller Vinnie Keller 6'0" | 270 lbs | OL Clear Creek Amana | 2025 IA | 2025 | OL/DL | Clear Creek Amana | 6’0″ 270 lbs
Clear Creek Amana’s Vinnie Keller Vinnie Keller 6'0" | 270 lbs | OL Clear Creek Amana | 2025 IA left a huge impression at the Prospect Tour showcase back in April, especially when I realized he’s only a 2025 prospect. In the end, Vinnie took home the OL MVP honors. He displayed excellent overall fundamentals from his use of leverage, footwork, and hand use. Vinnie has a strong lower body that helps him anchor down and hold rushers at bay. Vinnie shows solid lateral burst on pulls and when moving up to second-level blocks. He uses his natural leverage very well and plays with a consistent pad level. Keller’s aggressiveness and physicality were also impressive to watch, as he always looks to make an impact with his initial contact. Very solid prospect that is only starting to scratch the surface!
