The Prep Red Zone South team is going to predict every team's MVP for the 2023 football season. Over the next several weeks, you're going to be able to read about which player is leading the way for his team. We'll even give a whole bunch of highlight films to back up our predictions.

Are you ready?

Region III-A

CA Johnson Green Hornets

[player_tooltip player_id='1142538' first='Caleb' last='Pearson'] QB – It's unlikely Pearson will leave the field much this season for the Green Hornets. He took over the QB position early last season and his confidence grew enough to be named Region III-A Player of the year. The senior ran for 1,800 yards and threw for an additional 600 last season. He accounted for over 30 touchdowns as well. He's also expected to play in the secondary on defense, return kicks and handle the punting duties as well.

Great Falls Red Devils

Jaylan Sanders RB – The senior will be counted on to have his most productive season yet. He's more of a slasher than a power runner. Once in the open field, Sanders can make people miss. The Red Devils will need a huge year from Sanders to improve on the 2-win season last year.

Lewisville Lions

[player_tooltip player_id='809751' first='Ian' last='Grissom'] QB – The Lions signal-caller loves to throw the deep ball and did it with great success last season. He threw for 2,491 yards and 37 TD's and he's expected to show that same type of flash this year. The junior is 6'2” and about 175 pounds. He has a strong arm and doesn't mind trying to throw it in tight spaces. Grissom is more of a pro-style QB and can throw it well when forced out of the pocket. He has 3 big-tine targets in Denari Garcia, [player_tooltip player_id='1165159' first='Jordan' last='Strong'] and Da'adrian Robinson.

McBee Panthers

DeVarius Ponds RB – Ponds will be taking over for all-state pick Evan Sullivan, and he's poised to have a big season. He's on the smaller side at 5'7” and 156 pounds but did run a 4.46 40-yard dash at the Palmetto Combine Series. He's going to be hard to catch if he gets on the perimeter.

Whitmire Wolverines

Blake Stribble QB – Stribble threw for 10 touchdowns on just 52 completions last season. He will have Ashton Nelson and Keiston Sanders back at wide receiver and [player_tooltip player_id='1253974' first='Kayshaun' last='Schumpert'] was just shy of 1,000 yards rushing last season. Stribble will be counted on to throw it a little more this season and with this group getting plenty of varsity experience last year, the Wolverines could be a surprise team this year after collecting six wins a season ago.
