Camping season is underway in West Texas, and will accelerate in June. Texas Tech, West Texas A&M and UT Permian Basin have all held camps so far with plenty more to come between now and the end of July. Here are 10 prospects in the Panhandle looking to accomplish big things during camping season over the next two months:

[player_tooltip player_id='573551' first='Benjamin' last='Bruce'], Trinity Christian: A great athlete, Bruce combines fantastic speed (4.48 in 40) with serious hops (35-inch vertical leap). Last season was his first playing football. Ceiling? Sky high. He attended camp at North Texas on Thursday and will return there on Friday. He performed well at the Texas tech camp on Sunday. He's been invited to camp by Georgia Tech, Nebraska, Purdue, Texas State, Dartmouth, and Drake.

Kade Bullen, Lubbock-Cooper: Within the last five days, the 6-foot-1, 180-pound Bullen has camped at Texas Tech and North Texas. He'll be at the SMU Mega-Camp on Friday and the TCU camp on Saturday. He has visited Tarleton State.

[player_tooltip player_id='413043' first='Jonah' last='Escalante'], Denver City: Escalante is a 6-foot-1, 175-pound QB for Denver City. He was First-Team All-District in 2021 and 2022. He's attended recent camps at UT Permian Basin and Eastern New Mexico. Camp invitations from Central Oklahoma, West Texas A&M and Southwestern Oklahoma State.

Mekhi Garmon, Lubbock-Cooper: Garmon possesses tremendous size at 6-foot-5, 275 pounds. He's going to the University of Houston tomorrow for the Space City Mega-camp. Oklahoma State, Texas State, North Texas and Eastern New Mexico have expressed interest. Garmon has major college talent.

Mason Johnson, Palo Duro: Johnson, a rising sophomore, is one of the top young talents in the Panhandle. He attended the Texas Tech camp last Sunday and plans to camp at Oklahoma, UTPB and UTSA before returning to Lubbock later this summer for another camp. He'll camp at Houston Christian on June 8.

[player_tooltip player_id='933806' first='Samuel' last='Colt Hill'], Littlefield: The 6-foot-1, 160-pound Hill runs very fast (4.41 in the 40) with power, making him a coveted prospect. He camped at UT Permian Basin last Sunday and plans to attend the SMU Mega-Camp Showcase on Friday. In all, he aims to attend 10 camps.

Wyatt Holmstrom, Seminole: While Holmstrom could be accurately described as the front runner for the Seminole QB job, he doesn't have anything nailed down yet. So, camping season will be important for him. He's camping (so far) at UTPB and North Texas.

Ryan Leathers, Amarillo: Leather is the top returning tackler for the Sandies (113 tackles in 2022). Great speed, power and jumping ability. He camped at North Texas on Thursday. Camp invitations from west Texas A&M, Dartmouth and Southern Nazarene.

Austin Rider, Bushland: Rider was a First-Team All-District LB for Bushland last season. The rising senior looks to go to the next level with a solid camp season. He attended the North Texas camp on Thursday.

Pius Vokes, Amarillo: Vokes has parlayed his speed (10.72 in the 100) and smarts (4.0 GPA) into an offer from Yale. He holds camp invitations from Abilene Christian, Auburn and Houston. He could be a 1,000-yard rusher in 2023.
