<p><strong>GAINESVILLE – </strong>No matter where his Oviedo Lions have gone this summer, head coach <strong>Greg Odierno's</strong> football team has competed and made a major impact.</p>

<p>On Wednesday, in the second session of the University of Florida 7-on-7 Swamp Shootout, Odierno and his team captured the title in a win over Ocala West Port.</p>

<p>This has been a team that competed hard throughout the summer – with timely plays and hard work.</p>

<p>On Wednesday, the Lions made the two-hour drive from north of Orlando payoff.</p>

<p>In addition to Oviedo and West Port, the tournament also featured Gould Palm Glades, Fort Pierce Westwood, Starke-Bradford County, Viera, Dunnellon and Thomas County Central.</p>

<p><strong>SEVERAL LIONS SHINE</strong></p>

<p>It was indeed an outstanding day for Oviedo as <strong>Jackson LaTour</strong> (2024 QB) led the way all day. He was joined by 2024 RB <strong>Kevin Watson</strong>, 2024 Athlete <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1128636' first='Cameron' last='Keels']</strong>, who played both ways, and 2025 WR <strong>Alex McCoy</strong>, who scored 2 key touchdowns in the championship game.</p>

<p>On defense, it was all about 2024 LB <strong>Bryson Blanford</strong> and 2025 LB <strong>Joey Gioia</strong>. The secondary was strong all day - with 2025 safety <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='829506' first='Brady' last='Manning']</strong> 2025 CB <strong>Chance Nixon</strong>.</p>
