Commitments announcements around Louisiana are getting hot and heavy as summer hits its peak.

The college camp circuit is winding down, and prospects across the state are making their decisions and refocusing more singularly on their upcoming high school seasons.

Here's a look at eight student-athletes who shared their plans in mid-June.

[player_tooltip player_id='285204' first='Robert' last='Patterson'] — 6-1, 170 TE — Airline (2024) —> Harding University

A Harding program with a track record of dipping down into Louisiana, particularly north Louisiana, for talent landed another under-the-radar prospect June 16 when Vikings' tight end announced his commitment. Patterson has been a notable weapon for his Airline offense and has worked hard, including track work and powerlifting, to continue developing his body, athleticism and game into intriguing hybrid tight end potential at the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id='675892' first='Geordan' last='Guidry'] — 6-3, 255 DL — Ruston (2024) —> Tulane

Another member of a nasty Ruston defense committed to staying in-state to play his college football when Guidry announced his pledge June 17 to the Green Wave. He joins LSU-committed defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='421520' first='Ahmad' last='Breaux'] and Louisiana Tech-committed linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='285613' first='Jadon' last='Mayfield'] from a unit that helped lead the Bearcats back to their first title game this December since 1998 and has them considered one of the favorites — if not the favorite — in Division-I Non-Select this fall. Guidry is a big defensive end with good get-off who has been bulking up this offseason and may have be able to provide some versatility along the Wave front.

[player_tooltip player_id='675893' first='Jayce' last='Mitchell'] — 6-4, 285 OL — Destrehan (2024) —> Cincinnati

The Bearcats are heading into a second straight fall without a Louisiana native on their roster since former Destrehan receiver Michael Young Jr. spent 2020 and 2021 there as a graduate transfer from Notre Dame. Cincinnati went back to the Wildcats' well this year to land the commitment June 18 of the rising senior offensive lineman, a returning starter from a dominant group that helped lead an undefeated state championship run this past fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='421525' first='Jason' last='Gabriel Jr.'] — 5-10, 180 RB/ATH — John Curtis (2024) —> Southern University

The speedy Patriots athlete announced June 19 his plans to take his talents to Baton Rouge for college, staying in-state and a quick drive from home. Gabriel, a home-run threat once he hits the second level and a good receiver option out of the backfield or the slot, is a key member of a strong stable of backs for the perennial power John Curtis, fresh off a state championship and eying a run at another. Among the most recent prospects to make their way from River Ridge to The Bluff is star running back Devon Benn, who became an all-conference performer for the Jaguars.

[player_tooltip player_id='421518' first='Koby' last='Young'] — 6-1, 180 WR — Holy Cross (2024) —> Georgia Tech

The explosive wide receiver — and sprinter — became the second New Orleans standout in the class to announce his commitment to Georgia Tech on June 20. Young had been largely anticipated to end up a member of LSU's class over Oklahoma and others before his trips elsewhere this June and the Tigers' shifting receiver board after strong workouts from other in-state standouts. And Yellow Jackets special teams coordinator Ricky Brumfield, himself a New Orleans native, and company land a dynamic weapon as a result.

[player_tooltip player_id='678290' first='Jayden' last='Scott'] — 6-4, 240 DL — Archbishop Shaw (2024) —> Tulane

Tulane landed one of the likely steals of Louisiana's 2024 class June 20 when Scott announced his decision to stay home in New Orleans for college. Scott, who will make a big jump in the next Prep Redzone Louisiana rankings update after a visit this spring, had garnered growing Power Five and SEC momentum, including offers from Louisville, Georgia Tech and Texas Tech. He checks a long list of boxes from his size, explosiveness and active hands to his maturity, work ethic and overall leadership.

[player_tooltip player_id='285193' first='Bernard' last='Causey'] — 6-0, 160 DB — John F. Kennedy (2024) —> Ole Miss

"Beeby" shared his SEC commitment June 21 out of an announced top seven that also included Mississippi State, Colorado, Missouri, Nebraska, Indiana and Illinois. He pointed to the Rebels — and particularly new defensive coordinator Pete Golding, a Louisiana native who previously held the same position at Alabama — as a steady presence throughout the ups and downs of his recruitment. Causey is an athletically gifted, high-energy and hungry prospect who has a chance to develop into one of the top players in Louisiana's 2024 class.

[player_tooltip player_id='139475' first='Joshua' last='Jackson'] — 6-4, 180 WR — St. Augustine (2024) —> Tulane

The Green Wave continued its impressive recruiting run with Jackson's announcement June 21 that he would be remaining in hometown New Orleans for college. The St. Augustine standout, among the top handful of receiving prospects in Louisiana's rising senior class, had long discussed Michigan and Mississippi State as his top two options before becoming another in-state target with Power Five options to join Tulane's increasingly intriguing momentum to build off this past season's conference title and Cotton Bowl victory.
