Nic Straile was an impressive linebacker as a sophomore for Colonia. Playing from the outside position, Nic totaled 56 tackles, 10 for a loss, and even recovered 3 fumbles last fall. Fast off of the edge when he’s coming for the blitz, Nic can either force the QB to make a bad decision or turn the runner back inside for his team to take care of. What’s most impressive is Nic doesn’t get shaken up from runners with quick feet and agility. He’s able to maintain his composure and still execute. He is a very consistent tackler and it will be exciting to see what he is capable of these next two seasons.
Another player coming from Colonia, Jaeden Jones Jaeden Jones 5’11” | 190 lbs | DB Colonia | 2024 State NJ was everything you could ask for in an athlete at the high school level. Jaeden put up some numbers you don’t hear too often. Not only did he throw for 1060 yards, but he also ran for an additional 1661 yards. And with 6 touchdowns through the air and 19 on the ground, Jaeden was every defenders worst nightmare to go up against. With a great ability to cut and make guys miss, Jaeden is also able to break tackles you wouldn’t expect someone to get out of. He is mostly a runner from the QB position, but also has deep ball capabilities. Any by using his feet, Jaeden is able to get out of sticky situations in the pocket and make a play out of nothing.
Jaeden’s skills don’t stop on the offensive side of the ball. A star on both sides, he was a hard hitting safety that was able to play up high or rolled down. With 81 tackles, an interception and a forced fumble, Jaeden was a playmaker no matter where he was on the field in 2022. Jaeden recently committed to Monmouth where he is sure to do great things.
Highlights
Te’Quan Thomas
Te’Quan Thomas
If you’re looking for a pure athlete that will simply outcompete the competition, look no further than Te’Quan Thomas. It is truly not fair having to go up against this Linden QB. Similar to Jaeden, Te’Quan is another running back at the QB position. Throwing for 689 yards and 4 touchdowns and also running for another 1184 yards and 14 touchdowns, it is hard to keep an eye on him in the pass and run game. A natural born sprinter, Te’Quan is going to force his opponents to take bad angles. He will carve in and out of defenders and can get to the opposite side of the field very quickly. Mark your calendars for 9/15 when Linden faces off against Colonia, where Te’Quan and Jaeden square off with very similar styles. We should see the scoreboard lit up when these two are on the field.
AJ Bosch is Woodbridge’s (not so secret) weapon. A soon to be senior receiver, AJ made a huge impact on the field as a runner and receiver. Rushing for 455 yards and 7 touchdowns and receiving 655 yards and another 8 touchdowns, AJ did it all for his team in 2022. AJ is very impressive at the line. His first few steps shake corners out of position and gives him extra wiggle room for his QB to throw into. A technically sound route runner, AJ makes the QB’s job easy as he runs precise patterns and is rarely out of position. Defensively, AJ made his presence known with 2 interceptions to go along his 55 total tackles. AJ recently received an offer from Bucknell, but I am sure more offers are to come soon.
