Phillipsburg had a very successful season in 2022, and Kevin Burgess played a big part in it. A wide receiver and cornerback for the team, Kevin was able to accumulate 309 receiving yards and 5 touchdowns, predominately beating defenders on the deep routes. A tall receiver that played in the slot and out wide, you could find him often flying by corners and leaping over them to make a big catch. Defensively, Kevin is a sneaky good cornerback. He may even be more impressive on the defensive side of the ball. Either way, the future is bright for Kevin and Co.
A sophomore last season, Phillipsburg’s Jett Genovese Jett Genovese 5’10” | 200 lbs | QB Phillipsburg | 2025 NJ put on quite the show from the quarterback position. A gunslinger in the pocket, Jett threw for 1381 yards and 13 touchdowns last season. Jett has great size for his age, and is able to compliment it with a strong arm and the ability to throw the deep ball. He knows where to place the ball and is even able to perform under duress.
Jett will catch you off guard with his wheels. He is a Tim Tebow like runner, and was able to run for 325 rushing yards and 7 touchdowns last season. Look fo Phillipsburg to repeat their success in 2023.

Jonathan Lobelo Jonathan Lobelo 6’0″ | 215 lbs | LB Hillsborough | 2024 NJ is a player always looking forward to delivering some punishing hits. A soon to be senior linebacker for Hillsborough, Jonathan has great size for the position and can even accelerate quicker than you’d expect. He is the type of player you’d hope to have at the goal line, because you know he is going to be standing the runner up. A player that puts the quarterback on edge when he’s in pursuit, Jonathan is able to get skinny between the blockers and get into the backfield quickly.
With 86 tackles, 3 sacks, and an interception in 2022, Joe Spirra Joe Spirra 6’2″ | 200 lbs | LB Bridgewater Raritan | 2024 State NJ was a straight up playmaker for Bridgewater-Raritan. Another returning linebacker from this division, Joe always brings some force when he goes in for the tackle. Even though he is a thinner linebacker, he is still able to disrupt the play at the line. He gets to the QB fast when he enters the backfield and is able to shake off blockers along the way. Joe will continue to impress once the fall rolls arounds.

Jackson Jankowicz Jackson Jankowicz 5'9" | 170 lbs | RB Hillsborough | 2025 NJ
The last player on the list is Jackson Jankowicz Jackson Jankowicz 5’9″ | 170 lbs | RB Hillsborough | 2025 NJ . A sophomore RB for Hillsborough in 2022, Jackson is a very quick player once the ball is in his hands. With just one cut, he’s able to make moves to get into open field and sprint away from the competition. With 1084 all purpose yards last season, Jackson was a big time returner and even returned a few kickoffs for touchdowns. I could see his all purpose yards increasing in the pass game as well, as he could play a big role as a pass catcher out of the backfield. And if all that wasn’t enough, Jackson also plays cornerback for his team and is a textbook tackler. Jackson has a bright future ahead of him.
