Continue ReadingWestfield has a great defensive lineman in Julian Montez. Accumulating 74 tackles and 3 sacks from the defensive line, Julian was found making plays all over the field. Very athletic for a bigger guy, Julian is quick off of the line and is impressive when stunting. He sheds blockers and essentially acts as a road block any time runners enter his territory. And when the play isn’t run in his direction, he puts in great effort to pursue the runner. I’m looking forward to seeing how he progresses as a pass rusher and continues his work as a long snapper.

Daniel DeGennaro Daniel DeGennaro 6’1″ | 195 lbs | QB St. Joseph Metuchen | 2024 NJ is big arm talent playing for St. Josephs. With 1173 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2022, you can see why his name is starting to get recognized. A player that will stand tall in the pocket even when a big hit his coming his way, Daniel plays with some true tenacity. He has developed great timing on his throws and is able to place it where it needs to be even on the deeper routes. A smaller frame, Daniel is able to make up for it with his agility, athleticism, and ability to get out of the pocket. Playing the position with grit, Daniel will continue to surprise schools in 2023.

Renick Dorilas Renick Dorilas 5’11” | 150 lbs | DB Don Bosco | 2025 State NJ is one of Union’s most reliable players on the field. A soon to be junior WR and DB, Renick is a blur on the field. Always one of the fastest players when he steps on the field, there’s slim chance a wide receiver could outrun him or get by him easily on a deep post or streak. With smooth movement, he is able to stay glued to receivers and give up very little distance. Offensively, he is looking to get some attention as a receiver this fall. He has the ability to very special on both sides of the ball and is looking to impress scouts in 2023.
Terrell Mitchell Terrell Mitchell 5'8" | 185 lbs | RB Somerville | 2025 State NJ
Terrell Mitchell Terrell Mitchell 5'8" | 185 lbs | RB Somerville | 2025 State NJ
Terrell Mitchell Terrell Mitchell 5’8″ | 185 lbs | RB Somerville | 2025 State NJ is a straight up playmaker for Somerville. Only a sophomore last season, Terrell made a big impact from the running back position. A compact runner, Terrell runs with a low center of gravity and sheds tacklers with ease. A player that is faster than he appears, he is a kick return specialist that is able to kick it into second gear when needed. He even returned 2 kickoffs for touchdowns last season. A relentless runner once he gets near the end zone, Terrell ran for 725 yards and 7 touchdowns last season, and caught 2 more tds as well. Look for Terrell to break out this fall.
Kordal Hinton Kordal Hinton 5’11” | 200 lbs | LB Union | 2024 NJ is the last player on this list and the second player honing from Union. Another defensive stud, Kordal played linebacker and consistently delivered punishing blows to ball carriers. Bringing them to the ground 133 times last season, you can see why teams may want to scheme away from him. He played the middle linebacker position and was able to blow up plays before they got started. He is not afraid to lower his shoulder and take on the full force of a blocker so he can get to the runner or disrupt the play. And being fast on his feet, Kordal has the speed to catch QBs by surprise and also force runners to the outside. A speedster at the linebacker position, look for Kordal to create more headaches this fall.
