Starting on June 11th the Boise State football team camp got off to a shaky start with some weather delays for many of the areas top teams. A full padded team camp saw some of the top programs from across the state of idaho attend starting with Mountain View, Rocky Mountain, Borah, Capital, Timberline and Kuna from the 5A SIC ranks. Along with Skyview from the 4A SIC ranks the schools from Idaho were put up against some tough competition. Nationally ranked Bishop Gorman (NV) was in attendance along with Eastside Catholic (WA), Prosser (WA), West Valley (WA) and a couple of Renegade teams that were made up of players from all over the country.

The camp consisted of a morning and afternoon period that was called team wrap where teams were facing off against each other in an offense vs defense drill that was not full contact that was then finished with a live 3 play goal line challenge. In the evening the teams competed against each other in a 7 on 7 tournament all finishing up with a round robin full contact tournament on Tuesday. We were able to see some of the new talent each team is bringing with them this season. Here are some of the players that stood out during the team periods:

Constantly tested on the perimeter Freeman showed not only the coaches at Boise State but also many onlookers why he is a forced to be reckoned with this season. His ability to match up in man to man coverage is outstanding with a strong first punch to disrupt timing and with extreme foot quickness that allows him to mirror wide receivers in their routes. His transition in and out of his backpedal and his willingness to play physical not only on the edge but in the run game really stood out. He is going to be a player to know from here on out this season.","_player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_1_not_in_database":["not_in_db"],"_player_evaluations_1_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_1_player_details_selected_featured_image":"","_player_evaluations_1_player_details_selected_featured_image":"field_62cca28ffa4e7","player_evaluations_1_player_details_player_name":"[player_tooltip player_id='1599277' first='Kade' last='Benedick']","_player_evaluations_1_player_details_player_name":"field_62aba4c9ecf2f","player_evaluations_1_player_details_graduating_class":"2025","_player_evaluations_1_player_details_graduating_class":"field_62aba4ddecf30","player_evaluations_1_player_details_height":"6'0u0022","_player_evaluations_1_player_details_height":"field_62aba4e8ecf31","player_evaluations_1_player_details_position":"2410","_player_evaluations_1_player_details_position":"field_62aba4f0ecf32","player_evaluations_1_player_details_school":"Rocky Mountain","_player_evaluations_1_player_details_school":"field_62aba4fdecf33","player_evaluations_1_player_details_club_team":"","_player_evaluations_1_player_details_club_team":"field_62d20e723441a","player_evaluations_1_player_details":"","_player_evaluations_1_player_details":"field_62aba4afecf2e","player_evaluations_1_evaluation":"The youngster really showed up during camp as a inside receiver making a variety of different catches for his team. His route running was something that really impressed many of the onlookers at the camp with his ability to get in and out of his breaks. Strong hands that allow him to pluck the football out of the air maybe one of his best assets but what we really liked was his toughness and competitive nature. As someone who has not played a lot of varsity reps he was not afraid to go toe to toe with some of the best players at the camp and did not back down from kids who are a year more advanced. He was a willing blocker on the edge and was a go to player for Rocky all camp long. He is going to have a monster season for the Grizzly and is definitely one to keep an eye on this year.","_player_evaluations_1_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_2_player":["565714"],"_player_evaluations_2_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_2_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_2_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_2_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_2_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_2_evaluation":"Krahn was another player who really showed up during the camp as someone who could really do it all. He is an outstanding football player who really just understands how to play the game. He really is the swiss army knife for Skyview as he can play a multitude of spots on the field. What was impressive was it looked as if he got some reps playing quarterback this camp which just proves what he can do on the football field. An athlete who is really described as a football player meaning that if it is on the football field he can get it done. One of the more impressive camps we have seen as he is a focal point for many of the opposing teams.","_player_evaluations_2_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_3_not_in_database":["not_in_db"],"_player_evaluations_3_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_3_player_details_selected_featured_image":"","_player_evaluations_3_player_details_selected_featured_image":"field_62cca28ffa4e7","player_evaluations_3_player_details_player_name":"Jacob Detwiler","_player_evaluations_3_player_details_player_name":"field_62aba4c9ecf2f","player_evaluations_3_player_details_graduating_class":"2024","_player_evaluations_3_player_details_graduating_class":"field_62aba4ddecf30","player_evaluations_3_player_details_height":"6'0u0022","_player_evaluations_3_player_details_height":"field_62aba4e8ecf31","player_evaluations_3_player_details_position":"2409","_player_evaluations_3_player_details_position":"field_62aba4f0ecf32","player_evaluations_3_player_details_school":"Borah ","_player_evaluations_3_player_details_school":"field_62aba4fdecf33","player_evaluations_3_player_details_club_team":"","_player_evaluations_3_player_details_club_team":"field_62d20e723441a","player_evaluations_3_player_details":"","_player_evaluations_3_player_details":"field_62aba4afecf2e","player_evaluations_3_evaluation":"Detwiler made some huge throws throughout the camp especially in the final day where he setup Borah to potentially knock off Bishop Gorman. He showed timing on his throws that allowed many of his playmakers to run after the catch. Detwiler was impressive in the way he took command of the offense for the Lions all camp and was a true leader on the field. He stood tall in the pocket and was able to stare down the rush while making throw after throw. His mechanics are more improved which allowed for the football to jump out of his hand and he threw with more anticipation. He is primed for a big season and will be a huge impact player for Borah this year.","_player_evaluations_3_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations":4,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"mode":"edit","alignText":"left","anchor":"acf-block-648f833dc73b5"} /-->
