While it was a smaller camp, there were several WV and out of state athletes that stood out today. Here were some of the top quarterbacks and running backs that I saw during camp.
Quarterbacks:
Ian Crookshanks Ian Crookshanks 6'1" | 200 lbs | QB East Fairmont | 2024 State WV – East Fairmont | 2024 | 6’0 210
East Fairmont’s Ian Crookshanks Ian Crookshanks 6'1" | 200 lbs | QB East Fairmont | 2024 State WV was a name I was already familiar with heading into camp from my Marion County Prospect Spotlight series. This was the first time I was able to see him in person and he was impressive both physically and arm talent-wise. His measurement of 6’0 210 is definitely legit and is a well-put-together athlete. Crookshanks threw the ball really well and throws a pretty ball with a tight spiral. He has the arm strength to make every throw and he also showed consistent accuracy. The 2024 QB would have been my QB Camp MVP and you could see why he’s already received offers from D2 Glenville State (WV) and West Virginia State before his senior season has begun. He received an offer from Bethany after the camp and I expect him to add more offers before the season begins.
Braelyn Sperringer Braelyn Sperringer 6'1" | 200 lbs | QB Brooke | 2024 State WV – Brooke | 2024 | 6’0 205
Another prospect from my County Prospect Spotlight series that stood out at today’s camp was Brooke’s Braelyn Sperringer Braelyn Sperringer 6'1" | 200 lbs | QB Brooke | 2024 State WV . Although Crookshanks was my QB MVP, Sperringer was not far behind and also had an impressive day. He’s another physically impressive athlete that threw the ball well and also ran the 40-yard dash in the 4.8s. This was also my first time getting to see Sperringer in person and I’m glad I was able to. He threw the ball accurately in the net drill and hit his spot numerous times. The rising senior was also very good in skeleton drill with only a couple of incompletions. Sperringer is an athletic quarterback that can run and throw and should have a big senior season after missing time last year due to an injury.
Brysen Dixon Brysen Dixon 5'8" | 140 lbs | QB Doddridge County | 2026 State WV – Doddridge County | 2026 | 5’7 130
Yet another prospect that I recently evaluated in my County Prospect Spotlight series that performed well today was Doddridge County’s, Brysen Dixon Brysen Dixon 5'8" | 140 lbs | QB Doddridge County | 2026 State WV . Dixon was the starting JV QB as a freshman last season and is an advanced passer for his size and age. He has grown a few inches since his last measurement of 5’4 120 and is now around 5’7 130. While he’s not the biggest QB currently, Dixon made some really nice throws today and can really sling it. He can put some air under the ball and drive it downfield. You might overlook him at first due to his size but once he starts throwing it around your head will perk up. I expect the rising sophomore to be the varsity quarterback this season for the Bulldogs and will certainly follow his sophomore campaign.
Another notable Quarterback: Noah Lion – Laurel Highlands (PA) | 2026 | 6’0 175
Running Backs:
Evan Walker – Stow-Munroe Falls (OH) | 2024 | 5’10 185
The running back group wasn’t very big numbers wise but it was quality over quantity today at camp. Evan Walker is an out-of-state prospect from Stow-Munroe Falls High School in Ohio and he was one of my top running backs I saw today. He has pretty good size for the position at 5’10 185 and he also runs well. Running back is a position that’s tough to evaluate in camp since there is no contact but he showed some good things in 1-on-1s winning multiple reps. All of his junior year highlights were at defensive back and outside linebacker so he can also play on that side of the ball. Walker has already received an offer from D3 Heidelberg University and I expect him to receive more this season.
Max Psaros – West Allegheny (PA) | 2024 | 5’9 185
Max Psaros of West Allegheny (PA) is an all-around athlete who can play several positions but got some work at running back and receiver today. Psaros is a quick little athlete that has some speed and twitch. I had him down as winning multiple reps in 1-on-1s and is difficult to cover in that setting. He does just about everything for his high school team and has a lot of versatility. Psaros picked up his first college offer from camp host Bethany College back in May and he repaid the favor by performing well today in camp.
Zion McGee – Indian Creek (OH) | 2025 | 5’8 185
Indian Creek’s Zion McGee was a name I was familiar with from being an Ohio Valley native. McGee made the short trip from Wintersville, Ohio and it was worth it for him. Coming off a fresh offer from D3 Capital University (OH), McGee had a nice day and looks the part physically. The rising junior had a great sophomore campaign for the Redskins as their workhorse running back. He was their best offense last season and should continue his upward trajectory in 2023. McGee was one of the best running backs at camp today with still two more years of high school ahead of him.
Other notable running backs:
Blake Ewert Blake Ewert 6'0" | 190 lbs | RB South Range | 2024 State OH – South Range (OH) | 2024 | 5’11 185
Zotique Douglas – Steubenville (OH) | 2025 | 5’9 170
