The 2023 football season is right around the corner and at the conclusion of spring practices across Oklahoma, it’s a perfect time to update the prospect rankings! We started this week with the state’s 2025 class and went from a Top 100 to a Top 125. If you missed that update, you can check out the list right here! Throughout the week, we’re diving deep into the rankings with prospect breakdowns. We’re discussing why these players are already on our radar and already on the radar for the next level. Keep it locked in throughout the week as we break down more 2025 prospects. And check back each Monday this month for a new ranking update! Next week, we’ll be updating the 2024 class.
In this breakdown, we’re putting a spotlight on the top five prospects that are new to the 2025 rankings. These five prospects are the highest rated of all the newcomers and there were quite a few of those in this recent update. But these five not only stood out and were added to the rankings, but they all are debuting with relatively high numbers next to their names. This breakdown definitely has a Tulsa theme as three of the five attend Tulsa Public Schools. Keep it locked in for more prospect breakdowns and all of our team previews coming up in July!
Jumping up into the Top 20 for overall prospects is defensive end Josiah Hammond Josiah Hammond 6’5″ | DL Union | 2025 State OK out of Will Rogers in Tulsa. Throughout the spring, we had heard that Hammond was becoming an absolute force as a pass rusher and he was having a lot of success on the camp circuit. Whether in state or out of state, Hammond was routinely one of the top guys at his position. We had to see it in person and were able to at the Claremore team camp. Hammond immediately stood out to us and talking with a few college coaches who were in attendance, they all agreed that he was arguably the best athlete on the field that day. The Ropers are building something special and we think that Hammond is just scratching the surface on what he can be as a prospect.
Highlights
There is a lot made of all the player movement in the Tulsa area specifically but one underrated move this offseason was offensive lineman Javion Antai Javion Antai 6’4″ | 300 lbs | OL Nathan Hale | 2025 State OK going from Edison to Nathan Hale. Antai is a 2025 offensive lineman that seems to be knocking on the door of absolutely exploding as a prospect. He has a lot of the tools already to be an outstanding offensive lineman and then when you combine that with some of the performances he’s shown in various camps this offseason, it feels like the sky is the limit. Antai was one of the best offensive linemen prospects we saw in person this spring and he’s joining a Nathan Hale program that has struggled for a long time. But this is a team that has quite a bit of talent in their younger classes so they could surprise some teams this season.
Star Spencer wide receiver Lehmantre Olds Lehmantre Olds 6’3″ | 190 lbs | WR Star Spencer | 2025 State OK is a perfect example of why we love the spring camp tour we do every single year. Prior to the team camp in Choctaw, we didn’t know a single thing about Olds and honestly, we didn’t even know Star Spencer was going to be at the camp that day. But Olds was the very first prospect that stood out to us during the scrimmages and we weren’t even in the complex yet. Walking across the street towards the field we saw Olds make a fantastic catch in the end zone on a go ball. He would do that countless times throughout the evening and it was a pretty strong consensus that he was the breakout star of the camp. He performed well in front of several college staffs and we’re looking forward to seeing more of him this fall.

We stay in the Oklahoma City area with our next newcomer to the rankings. Anytime we do a ranking update, there are always a few players that we immediately regret not having in the update. Either we hadn’t seen them yet or simply forgot to add them and Deer Creek standout Lane Whitworth Lane Whitworth 6’0″ | 180 lbs | DB Piedmont | 2025 State OK is a perfect example of that. Whitworth should have been in the update back in January as he is a defensive back that we think has a very high upside. Last season, with Piedmont, Whitworth was a hard-hitting safety that did a really good job in pass coverage as well. Whitworth also stood out and tested incredibly well at our camp back in January. Now at Deer Creek, we think Whitworth could open up more eyes as the Antlers need him in the secondary.
Staying on defense but going back to Tulsa with Edison’s Jhett Brown Jhett Brown 6’2″ | DB Edison | 2025 State OK at the cornerback position. Like Hammond, Antai and Olds, we definitely benefitted from watching Brown in person during the spring while he was at the Claremore team camp. We watched Edison knowing about a few of their top prospects but Brown was a player who we didn’t know but immediately asked about. He looked the part physically and then did a really good job in 1 on 1 situations at the cornerback position. We still don’t know that much about Brown but we think that by the time the next update comes out in October, he’ll be shooting up this list. He’s a name that will more than likely explode with a strong season this fall. He already opened our eyes this spring.
