Epperson has been one of the fastest rising recruits in the western region this offseason picking up 10 D1 offers since January. His offer list includes top programs such as Oregon, USC, Washington, Utah, and Penn State in addition to several other PAC12 programs. At 6’0” 195 lbs. he’s an attacking defender with the speed and lateral agility to make plays sideline to sideline. He flashes elite level short area burst to break hard on the football closing space with efficient movement and angles. Plays with leverage at the POA and is aggressive at the contact point. He’s a violent finisher to the ground that explodes on contact. Very quick to diagnose run/pass and put himself in position to make plays. Great positional versatility to transition well to multiple positions at the college level.
Highlights
Impressive MLB with good size, frame, and length at 6’3” 220 lbs. He plays downhill and flies up to attack ball carriers both between the tackles and to the outside. Plays with good awareness and reactionary quickness to read run/pass. Does a good job slipping and avoiding blocks, can use his hands to stack with leverage or quickness to work around. He’s a heavy thumper between the tackles and can also break down and be a strong 1on1 tackler in space. Can create turnovers and makes a ton of plays at or behind the line of scrimmage. Has had a strong offseason pulling in his initial offer from Nevada in mid May and was also selected as the LB MVP at the National Preps Showcase. Look for his recruiting stock to be on the rise as he progresses.
Highlights
Speer is an instinctual LB with good size at 6’2” 215 lbs. Disrupts plays as they are developing at or behind the line of scrimmage using good eye discipline and a quick trigger to react. Does a good job stepping up to fill holes between the tackles and taking good angles to close space on the ball carrier. To the outside he weaves through traffic avoiding blockers and is a reliable 1on1 open field tackler wrapping up and finishing to the ground. Good build and foundational skillset but would like to see him improve his strength at the POA by playing with better leverage and driving through contact. Has shown some positional flexibility on the offensive side of the ball at TE. Will be one to watch as he continues to develop.
Wall finished his sophomore season as the team’s leading tackler with 97 total including 12 TFL’s and 4 sacks while being named First Team All-League. Good length in his frame at 6’3” 210 lbs. with the ability to add weight as he matures. He’s patient with his reads but is quick to react to run/pass. He’s efficient with his movement showing the straight line speed and change of direction to redirect and chase in pursuit. Good ability to shed blocks, can use his hands to fight through contact and not allow blockers to get into his body. Strong at the POA, he’s an aggressive tackler that is powerful at the POA and finishes to the ground. Will be a big time contributor to the Tumwater defense over the next few seasons.
