I have identified a good mix of prospects who are set to grow on their impressive first years in high school. Whether playing on Friday nights or against other freshmen in 2022, these six prosects displayed college traits early in their high school careers. Below, I detail what makes these soon-to-be sophomores some of the best prospects in Nevada’s 2026 class.
Raymond Maveni
Raymond Maveni
Raymond Maveni is one of a couple talented freshmen for Reed High School. The two-way prospect is ready for Friday nights in the trenches. Be on the lookout for Raymond’s recruitment to heat up in 2023 as his next level ability gets displayed on both sides of the ball.
As a defender, Raymond shows good strength shedding blockers, while flashes of his range shows chasing down freshmen ball carriers for a loss; It will be good to see Raymond’s strength and get off hold up against interior varsity blockers. Raymond shows good flexibility gaining leverage on smaller linebackers at the second level. Flashes of power get displayed sending freshmen linebackers flying in the run game. Good athleticism, size, and strength will help Raymond as he begins to be evaluated for an interior offensive line position this season.
Amari Nash
Amari Nash
Amari Nash is a good-sized prospect out of Damonte Ranch High School. Amari has the size and talent to develop into a wide receiver or defensive back prospect. Expect coaches to start taking more trips to Reno once Amari lights up his sophomore season this fall.
As a freshman, Amari shows a good foundation of tools for a college receiver; Potential to be an X at the next level gets displayed in his balance, solid hands, contested catch ability, adjustment ability and toughness at the catchpoint. Quickness and vision displayed as a punt returner highlight Amari’s potential run after catch ability in college. The top speed Amari shows reversing field as a freshman running back or jet sweep recipient is bound to make an impact on Friday nights this fall.
Prince Williams Prince Williams 6’3″ | 250 lbs | DL Bishop Gorman | 2026 State NV is one of the best prospects in Nevada’s 2026 class. Prince holds offers from Hawaii and UNLV. The talented defender is one of Bishop Gorman’s underclassmen primed to have a breakout sophomore year. Expect Prince to receive more than his third offer before 2024 gets here.
Prince’s raw power and acceleration shows generating a push on varsity blockers after exploding off the ball. Good strength and the length to develop into an edge rusher gets displayed when Prince’s punch easily gains control of varsity offensive linemen. Good leverage, anchor, and awareness as an interior run defender highlight Prince’s DL versatility.
Nylen Johnson
Nylen Johnson
Nylen Johnson had over 400 yards for Arbor View as a freshman. The dynamic runner is primed to take on a bigger role for Arbor View in 2023. It will be fun to see Nylen’s recruitment pick up steam alongside some of his highly touted teammates.
Nylen’s quickness and vision shows decisively attacking cutback lanes in zone lead plays. Instincts and good acceleration get displayed when Nylen is forced to abandon the point of attack and gain positive yards by going off script. Rare strength for a freshman shows running over varsity defensive backs at less than full speed. Nylen’s balance after contact and elusiveness in space add value as a scatback who can line up in the slot.
Jayden Williams Jayden Williams 5'9" | 165 lbs | WR Arbor View | 2026 State NV
Jayden Williams Jayden Williams 5'9" | 165 lbs | WR Arbor View | 2026 State NV
Jayden Williams Jayden Williams 5’9″ | 165 lbs | WR Arbor View | 2026 State NV may rival his Arbor View teammate for most impactful sophomore on offense in 2023. Jayden has visited Washington, UNLV, and Arizona State. Watch for him to receive his first scholarship offer before 2024 gets here.
Power and toughness get displayed when Jayden has no problem blocking defensive backs on Friday nights. Jayden’s athleticism shows adjusting and extending outside of his frame to catch off target throws. Balance and quickness show after the catch in displays of elusiveness as a ball carrier. Expect Jayden to be talked about as a top offensive sophomore in Nevada before the 2023 season is over.
Keytrin Harris Keytrin Harris 6’3″ | 255 lbs | DL Bishop Gorman | 2026 State NV could rival his teammate for the most talented defensive lineman in the 2026 class. Keytrin holds offers from UNLV and Colorado State. With Prince manning the other edge, look for the duo to dominate blockers for years to come.
Keytrin shows good strength and top speed running through freshmen defenders for touchdowns as a slot receiver. A good get off as a standup end combined with the length & strength to drop two freshmen blockers at once highlights Keytrin’s advanced pass rusher toolbox. Keytrin’s hand technique needs to improve, but good bend shows running the hoop while flashes of power show bull rushing pass blockers successfully with poor leverage.
