One hundred is one of those special numbers. This scouting report features five athletes from Eight-Man programs in Kansas headed into their senior seasons. All five of them recorded at least 100 tackles during their junior campaigns.
Josh Ferguson, LB, 6’2”, 210, Thunder Ridge
Ferguson racked up an amazing total of 174 tackles during his junior season. The Longhorn linebacker knows how to finish tackles and can run down ball carriers. He is tall and physical. He is a legit defensive prospect, but he could also have a future playing tight end with a transition to 11-man football.
Jonathan Mader, LB, 5’10”, 185, Hoxie
Mader finished with 114 tackles during his junior season. He also had 17 tackles-for-loss and eight sacks. Mader can shed blockers and has solid tackling technique. The Mustang linebacker is quick, strong, and wraps up ball carriers.
Jaden Nuss, LB, 6’2”, 176, Hill City
Nuss finished with 100 total tackles, nine of which were for a loss of yardage. He also finished with two interceptions and two sacks during his junior season for the Ringnecks. Nuss is a threat on offense as well. He finished the 2022 season with more than 900 total yards of offense and with 13 total touchdowns.
Chance Jermark Chance Jermark 5'8" | 165 lbs | LB St. John's/Tipton | 2024 State KS , LB, 5’8”, 165, St. John’s Tipton
Jermark finished his junior season with 115 total tackles, 19 of which were tackles-for-loss. He can blitz the quarterback as he finished with five sacks during the 2022 season for the Blujays. Jermark also plays running back, but he projects more as a defensive prospect at the collegiate level.
Blaine Hickel, SS, 6’1”, 177, Central Plains
Hickel finished with 104 total tackles. He is a fast safety who can really stick opposing players. He also is a solid cover man and works hard not to get beat deep.
