As they continue to develop their skillsets and work on their physical development, they hope to hone the attributes that college coaches are not just looking for but need on their teams. So here we go!
2024 DL
James Breeze
James
Breeze
6'4" | 225 lbs | DL
Oak Hills | 2024
OH
(Oak Hills) 6’4 225- Breeze lined up at both on the inside and the outside of the Highlanders defense. I like him at the strongside defensive end position at the college level. He possesses good length and the strength to set the edge in the run game. He does a great job of straight-arming blockers and walking them into the backfield. As he engages with the blockers he does a good job of keeping his eyes in the backfield as he looks to shed blocks to make plays. He plays with good pad level and does a great job of keeping his shoulders square to the line of scrimmage. An area for growth would be continued work on explosiveness and get-off that would benefit him in getting to the QB in the pass game. Breeze looks poised to have a strong senior season.

2025 DB
Talan Malicote
Talan
Malicote
5'10" | 165 lbs | DB
Middletown | 2025
OH
(Middletown) 5’10 165- Malicote plays both Quarterback and Safety for the Middies. I like him as a defensive back at the college level. Talan projects to a free safety. He does a great job of seeing the field and maintaining good defensive positional awareness. Talan takes good routes to the football and closes well to undercut and make plays PBU’s in front of the receiver. He shows solid ball skills and good timing when the ball is in the air. He’s comfortable with the play in front of him, but he has the hips to turn and run as well. Malicote will be an intriguing prospect to follow as he continues to grow and get stronger.

2025 QB
Brock Baker
Brock
Baker
6'2" | 180 lbs | QB
Fairmont | 2025
State
OH
(Fairmont) 6’3 190- Baker did a good job of operating the Firebirds run dominant offense. He possesses the footwork and athleticism to maneuver the pocket and rollout. He’s comfortable throwing in the pocket or on the run. He’s cool with a rush in his face as he’s able to stay calm and deliver the strike. In the run game he does an excellent job of executing the zone read game. He reads the defensive end and at the last second to make the defensive end commit before making the read. When he pulls it, he has the speed and elusiveness to hurt defenses and move the chains. He does well to protect the football as he didn’t have a fumble or interception on the season. Baker is the kind of quarterback that can be a game changer for the Firebirds in the future. Everyone knows about their dominant running game, but the treat of a talented passer operating that offense could take it to another level.

2025 WR
Jamar Montgomery
Jamar
Montgomery
6'3" | 170 lbs | WR
Centerville | 2025
State
OH
(Centerville) 6’3 170- At 6’3 170 pounds Montgomery owns the kind of length and frame that colleges covet. He has plenty of room to continue to add good weight and strength. His length and athleticism are on full display in jump ball situations. He has plus body control and jumping ability combined with good hands make him a threat to go up and win most 50/50 balls. While he doesn’t have elite speed, he runs smooth routes that help him create separation. He tracks the ball well and makes good adjustments. I really like him as a strong possession receiver at the college level. He’s going to be at his spots when he’s supposed to be there, and he’s going to make the play. That consistency and execution will make him a big asset as he will be a guy that can be counted on to move the chains. I can’t wait to see how Jamar continues to grow and develop. The future is bright!

2025 LB
Ronnie Butler
Ronnie
Butler
5'9" | 205 lbs | LB
Xenia | 2025
OH
(Xenia) 5’9 205- Butler is a player who really came into his own in his sophomore season. He’s an old school type of linebacker. While you see times where Butler is definitely young, you definitely get glimpses of what he can be as a middle linebacker. He’s a thumper. He plays with good pad level and is a sure tackler who makes sure he gets his man down. You can tell Butler is young and the game still moves a little fast at times for him. He is fearless in taking on blockers playing around or through them. As the game slows for him and he begins to trust his eyes, he’s going to play to his speed and make plays all over the field. He plays with a passion for the game that you love to see. He’s one I will definitely be keeping an eye on in the future.
