Continue ReadingDual quarterback responsibilities for Lincoln’s Khani Knight Khani Knight 6’2″ | 180 lbs | QB Abraham Lincoln | 2023 State PA and Northeast’s Sabor Stevens Sabor Stevens 5’11” | 210 lbs | QB Northeast | 2023 State PA . Couldn’t pick two more deserving passers for the honor. Both bring forth different skillsets, Stevens, an adept ability to run an offense the way it’s supposed to, delivering accurate and catchable balls consistently, while Khani Knight Khani Knight 6’2″ | 180 lbs | QB Abraham Lincoln | 2023 State PA provides flare, magic, and pure playmaking ability. The duo shared reps behind center, both outpacing their Catholic League counterparts.
Both Knight and Stevens located their targets downfield with ease, attacking NP corners vertically in the rain with ease. Stevens threw some beautiful darts in the rain, also orchestrating the offense and hitting screens and swings on time. Khani Knight Khani Knight 6’2″ | 180 lbs | QB Abraham Lincoln | 2023 State PA was involved in passing, throwing deep shots with ease. Knight tucked and ran a couple of times, providing all of us a glimpse of that incredible impromptu escapability. Where Khani Knight Khani Knight 6’2″ | 180 lbs | QB Abraham Lincoln | 2023 State PA stole the show was at CB and WR. Stevens threw a deep shot to split-out Knight that nearly scored from 40+ yards out. Knight also put this game away with two timely interceptions in the fourth quarter. Knight was far and away the most impactful prospect in this game.
Corey Wright Corey Wright 5’10” | 165 lbs | ATH Imhotep Institute | 2023 State PA -Downing and Shomari Richards Shomari Richards 6’4″ | 185 lbs | ATH George Washington | 2023 State PA proved to be quiet the tandem to throw to for Stevens and Knight.
Get CWD in space with the ball in his hands and good things will happen, that was part of the short-game game plan with Stevens and Wright. Wright is more than just a dump-off slot wideout, he came away with a ridiculous contested catch against a Catholic League All-Star. This is a Division One prospect who toyed with defenders at times.
Shomari Richards Shomari Richards 6’4″ | 185 lbs | ATH George Washington | 2023 State PA did his thing outside of the numbers. His role was a simple one, show off the stride and test NP DBs deep. Stevens and Knight provided opportunities for Richards to burn and track DBs, that he did. Very impressed by his performance.
Highlights
Interestingly enough, there wasn’t much of a run game to speak of despite the weather hardly holding up all evening. That being said, Lincoln’s Green-Simmons and Greene both scored on multiple runs. Both Lincoln backs provided tough runs inside the red zone that led to plunges for scores.
James Bermudez James Bermudez 5’10” | 195 lbs | RB Northeast | 2023 State PA had his hands in everything. Taking a look at his rank, you’d see a Division One grade placed on the Lock Haven commit. You can argue that Bermudez was just as valuable to the winning cause as Stevens or Knight. Multiple scores, multiple roles on both sides of the ball, seen catching the ball out of the backfield. Bermudez consistently plays above expectations.
I have to shout out Isiah Thomas Isiah Thomas 6’3″ | 290 lbs | OL George Washington | 2023 State PA and the rest of the offensive line for keeping both quarterbacks relatively upright against a star-studded defensive front.
Quentine Wright Quentine Wright 6’0″ | 165 lbs | WR Mastery Charter North | 2023 State PA turned in a huge interception before half-time that he took back for a score. Was a fan of this young man for some time, dating back to last Fall where he showed off some serious potential at WR and DB. Same player showed up in this game. Great plays at DB all throughout this one. Same goes for Maceo Gatewood Maceo Gatewood 6’4″ | 185 lbs | ATH Belmont Charter | 2023 State PA , who matched up against the NP’s primary pass-catchers all game, those being Clemson commit Markus Dixon Markus Dixon 6’5″ | 230 lbs | TE Archbishop Wood | 2023 State PA and Roman’s Mekhi Watson Mekhi Watson 6’2″ | 205 lbs | TE Roman Catholic | 2023 State PA . Maceo has always intrigued college coaches, he’s still available to my knowledge. Long limbs at corner/safety, doesn’t need to be taught to play and find the football but needs to be taught a ton of technique before seeing the field at the next level.
Highlights
Not enough credit given to these three prospects for making all things difficult on NP’s end. Rhodes-Nelson, one of my favorite Pub prospects, was in the backfield causing TFLs and penetrating well considering the tackles he had to deal with.
Khadir Rowe Khadir Rowe 6’1″ | 225 lbs | LB Northeast | 2023 State PA and Tyrese Whitaker Tyrese Whitaker 6’2″ | 235 lbs | DL Northeast | 2023 State PA might not have interceptions or scores to their names, yet you can attribute many of the turnovers to their play in the front seven. Clogging lanes, timely blitzes made NP passers uncomfortable all game long. IUP and Temple would have loved what they saw out of these two this past weekend.
