More than 60 athletes showed off their skills in front of 20-plus college coaches and scouts.
Players were measured and timed in the 40-yard dash, “L” drill, Pro Agility drill, broad jump, vertical jump, and number of bench press reps at 185 lbs.
Even though it was advertised as a junior day, registration was open and a handful of sophomores and freshmen showed up to run, jump, and lift.
Here is a scouting report on members of the Class of 2025 who stood out during the event.
Jacob Hawks Jacob Hawks 6'8" | 315 lbs | OL Washburn Rural | 2025 State KS , OL, 6’8”, 320, Washburn Rural
Hawks is one big dude. He pushed up 18 reps of 185 lbs in the bench press test. He also has decent speed for his size posting a 5.44 time in the Pro Agility Drill and a 5.80 time in the forty. Hawks has all kinds of potential and multiple seasons to refine his game. He projects as a solid left tackle who will have college line coaches drooling over him.
Caden Estrada Caden Estrada 6'1" | 270 lbs | OL Washburn Rural | 2025 State KS , OL, 6’1”, 265, Washburn Rural
Estrada is “strong like bull.” He did the most bench press reps of any athlete at the combine pressing 185 lbs an incredible 28 times. He also ran a sub-5-second Pro Agility Drill in 4.76 seconds. I would say the Junior Blues have a couple of workhorses on their offensive line for the next two years. Estrada can play tackle or guard, so the question is do you bookend him and Hawks, or, put them next to each other and try to steamroll opponents?
Isaiah Windel, OL, 6’2”, 250, Seaman
This young Viking prospect posted solid numbers at the combine. He bench pressed 185 lbs, 19 times, and produced times of 5.20 and 5.68 in the Pro Agility Drill and forty respectively. Windel is a physical kid, who will benefit from increased playing time and the confidence that creates.
Kaden Jordan Kaden Jordan 6'2" | 270 lbs | OL Seaman | 2025 State KS , OL/DL, 6’2”, 300, Seaman
Seaman also seems to have multiple big-man options on their future offensive and defensive lines. Jordan benched 185 lbs 17 times and posted solid times in the Pro Agility Drill and forty with respective 5.32 and 5.52 totals. Jordan can run block with the best of them. He will want to continue to improve his pass protection and just continue to get stronger.
Samson Tootle, RB/LB, 5’10”, 180, Seaman
Tootle is a young prospect to keep an eye on. He benched 185 lbs 14 times and ran a 5.27 forty. Tootle knows how to follow his blockers, and reads the hole well. He is a tough guy to tackle and should play more of a role in the Vikings’ offense in 2023.
Elijiah Springer, WR/CB, 5’10”, 150, Topeka High
Springer can run and jump. He had a vertical jump of 31.5 inches and ran a 5.01 forty. Spring saw time on defense and special teams in 2022. He has good closing speed as a safety.
