With that in mind, it is time to start previewing what lies ahead in the upcoming season. While there is a lot of talent spread throughout the state of Missouri, an area that I believe gets overlooked at times from a football standpoint is St. Charles County. This area isn’t in the headlines as much as schools in cities like St. Louis or Kansas City but there is still a ton of talent to be seen. With that being said, I have started a “St. Charles County Players to Watch” series. After already covering the quarterbacks, I will now turn my attention to some intriguing running backs to watch heading into the 2023 season.
Marquis Williams
Marquis Williams
Marquis Williams is an incoming senior running back that has recently caught my attention. He had a strong junior year, running the ball 103 times for 833 yards and 11 touchdowns. Williams has impressive vision as a ball carrier, showing the ability to find the running lane and burst through it in a hurry. Once he hits the running lane, he has the speed to run away from the defense to break off long runs. He also has the elusiveness to make defenders miss in the open field. Williams has also shown the ability to catch passes out of the backfield, finishing this past season with 22 receptions for 274 yards and two touchdowns. While he doesn’t currently hold any offers, Williams should be a player to keep an eye on during his senior year as he has the talent to play somewhere at the next level.
Jaden Morrison Jaden Morrison 6’0″ | 195 lbs | RB Timberland | 2024 MO is another incoming senior running back to keep an eye on from St. Charles County. Morrison had an impressive junior season, finishing with 119 carries for 605 yards and five touchdowns. Jaden is a downhill runner that hits the running lane with a sense of urgency and has the speed to run away from the defense. Once he hits the open field, Morrison has the elusiveness to make defenders miss along with the strength and contact balance to break tackles without losing stride. He has also proven to be reliable in the passing game, catching 10 passes for 151 yards and one touchdown this past season. Jaden doesn’t currently hold any offers but has received some college interest and definitely has the talent to play somewhere at the next level.

Conrad King Jr.
Conrad King Jr.
Conrad King Jr. is a running back that has caught my attention following a solid junior season. This past season, King ran the ball 123 times for 555 yards and 10 touchdowns. King is a downhill runner with very impressive contact balance. He has shown the ability to keep his legs churning through contact to break tackles without losing stride. King has also shown the ability to make defenders miss in the open field and lower his shoulder to run straight through defenders. While King doesn’t currently hold any offers, he deserves more attention from college coaches as he has the talent to be a productive ball carrier at the next level.
Darius (DJ) Jones Darius (DJ) Jones 5’10” | 180 lbs | RB Fort Zumwalt West | 2024 State MO is a player that impressed in a split backfield last season. While sharing carries with senior Kyle Nunn Kyle Nunn 5’7″ | 170 lbs | RB Fort Zumwalt West | 2023 State MO last season, Jones carried the ball 60 times for 457 yards and seven touchdowns. Jones has an incredible combination of speed and elusiveness as a ball carrier. Once the running lane opens, Jones bursts through it in a hurry and has the speed to keep running right past the defense untouched on his way to the end zone. He also has very impressive moves in the open field, including a nice spin move, to make defenders miss in the open field. Darius also has proven to be very dangerous in the passing game, catching 51 passes for 480 yards and three touchdowns this past season. Jones doesn’t currently hold any offers but has picked up some college interest and definitely has the talent to be a big-time playmaker at the next level.
Highlights
Collin Parsons
Collin Parsons
To wrap up this list, I have incoming senior running back Collin Parsons from Francis Howell Central. Parsons had a solid junior year, running the ball 121 times for 723 yards and six touchdowns. He has very impressive vision as a ball carrier, showing the ability to find the initial open lane and hit it in a hurry while also being able to find cut back lanes in the open field. Once he hits the open field, Parsons has shown the speed to run away from the defense and elusiveness to make defenders miss. He has also shown that he has the strength to lower his shoulder and run over defenders. Parsons has also proven to be a threat in the passing game, catching eight passes for 89 yards and two touchdowns last season. He also plays linebacker on defense and has returned some kicks on special teams but I like what I have seen from him on offense the most. Collin hasn’t received any official offers yet but has received some college interest and has the talent to play somewhere at the next level.
