Part III of the Underrated DB Series!

2025 6'0 175 DB - [player_tooltip player_id='506841' first='Brayden' last='Dewaal'] - Boonsboro

[player_tooltip player_id='506841' first='Brayden' last='Dewaal'] put up huge numbers last year at both defensive back and free safety. He racked up 42 tackles, 4 interceptions, and a fumble recovery in 2022 alone, and he solidified himself as one of the key defensive players on the Boonsboro roster. Dewaal has incredible footwork and vision, and, as he develops and grows, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see him take snaps at the middle linebacker position. His football intelligence is off the charts, and don't be surprised if he forces double digit turnovers in 2023. All eyes must be on [player_tooltip player_id='506841' first='Brayden' last='Dewaal'] and the Boonsboro Warriors this upcoming season.

2025 5'11 170 DB - [player_tooltip player_id='372418' first='Tristan' last='Teasdell'] - Good Counsel

[player_tooltip player_id='372418' first='Tristan' last='Teasdell'] has an extremely bright future with the Good Counsel Falcons, and he's one of the most gifted athletes in their defensive secondary. He might have the highest pound for pound vertical leap that I've ever seen, and, to get a sense of just how spectacular of a vertical that he possesses, I've attached a video of Teasdell, at 5'11, dunking a basketball with ease. His elite skillset translates perfectly to the defensive back position, and I predict that a huge year is in store for [player_tooltip player_id='372418' first='Tristan' last='Teasdell'] in 2023. He competes in the DMV's most dominant conference, and I believe that he's going to prove that he's the best of the best.

2025 5'11 170 DB - [player_tooltip player_id='372419' first='Jhayir' last='Williams'] - Paint Branch

Finishing the season with a 9-4 overall record, Paint Branch absolutely dominated last year, and they were particularly dominant with [player_tooltip player_id='372419' first='Jhayir' last='Williams'] on the field. While Williams did not suit up for every game due to injury, the Panthers had a cumulative win margin of more than fifty points with Williams playing at defensive back. You can expect nothing but greatness from Williams when he's on the field, and I believe that his defensive efficiency will continue to prove itself next year. He's a tremendous young talent with a high ceiling, and 2023 could absolutely be his breakout year.

2025 5'10 150 DB - [player_tooltip player_id='373427' first='Anthony' last='Curtis'] - Mount Carmel

Finishing the season at 3-1,Our Lady of Mount Carmel did not have their best season, however, that did not prevent star defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='373427' first='Anthony' last='Curtis'] from having an extremely efficient 2022. He averaged more than a few solo tackles per game, and he also hauled-in an interception on the year. [player_tooltip player_id='373427' first='Anthony' last='Curtis']'s true bread and butter is defending the pass, and that's why I wouldn't recommend throwing the football against Mount Carmel this upcoming season. I believe the Cougars are going to have a bounce back year in 2023, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if [player_tooltip player_id='373427' first='Anthony' last='Curtis'] earns All-MIAA honors of some kind at the end of the season.

2025 5'9 160 DB - [player_tooltip player_id='218620' first='Ben' last='Chandler'] - Bishop McNamara

[player_tooltip player_id='218620' first='Ben' last='Chandler'] is a 3 star defensive back prospect, and he already has elite power five conference offers from USC, VT, Wake Forest, Coastal Carolina, and more. Chandler matches up with, quite literally, the best high school football wide receivers in the nation each and every week in WCAC competition, and I believe that this makes him one of the top tier defensive back prospects in the 2025 class. [player_tooltip player_id='218620' first='Ben' last='Chandler'] is also an extremely competitive track runner and basketball player during the football offseason, and in my opinion this truly demonstrates his well-roundedness as an athlete and as an overall prospect. DMV scouts must have [player_tooltip player_id='218620' first='Ben' last='Chandler'] of Bishop McNamara on their radars.
